Hair care during hotwave

Hi ladies,

I have been transitioning for 1 year now. Everything was ok: my regimen during last summer was ok and the one that I had during winter was on point and I gain lots of length.

But this summer everything is different, we are in a heatwave and I can't stand any moisturizer, any oil, it's just horrible and so greasy.
I cowash every 2 days while in braids (with extension) but I don't use any moisturizer after 'cause my scalp can't stand it. Even cowashing is a problem because I have to take my braids out sooner than before.

Some days I just let my hair be, but I'm afraid of a potential setback with this method.

I want to know what kind of products you use during really heat days.

Thank you.

Milaydy

Food grade aloe vera gel or juice feels cool cuz its refrigerated and its a good moisturizer. If the gel/juice feels sticky to you, dilute it with distilled water.

You can also try small amount of one of your favored products (before the heatwave) and thin it with distilled water. HTH :)

You can also use a Light Spritz of some sort (water based) and spritz your Hair during the Heatwave. I've been using a light creamy moisturizer and then I lightly spritz.

I'm using Qhemets Karkady Tea Mist and I just ordered some Darcy's Botanicals Herbal Hair Conditioning Mist.:yep:

You can also make your own. But I'm not in to mixing up stuff.:perplexed

aloe vera seems to be a good idea.

Yep:grin: I used Aloe Vera Gel last summer and it worked pretty well.:yep: I was doing a Phony Bun. So, it kept my hair cool & moisturized and sleek.

This Summer (believe it or not:look:) I am in a Wig:blush:

So, that's why I douse my hair in a good moisturizer and then Spritz it with a water-based spritz.

Oh mais tu parles très bien le français! Merci pour tes conseils.

Thank you for your guidance, I will definitly try some aloe vera and distilled water.

Ashleescheveux thank you for your sympathy. Next time I'll do better :lachen:I will not be so lazy and I'll use my dictionary.

Maybe some rosewater spritz? I use it on my face during the summer as a refresher; i actually sprayed some in my hair in the middle of the day (yesterday) only because it was super hot and humid. I honestly don't know if it made a difference because my hair was still moist from cowashing that morning.

I'm in kinky twist and have been co-washing every other day. I will definitely try the aloe vera gel idea.

This is called "class." Too bad it's not sold in stores.

for all its worth the typo made me smile.
good luck with the spritz OP, if you still dont like them just use water on your hair 2 times as day, or as needed.
