Is there a length where breakage is minimal?

I think I have read on the forum before that once people reach MBL that they tend to have little if no breakage from wearing their hair out everyday. Is that true? Is there a different length where people find this to be true?

yup... my chin length bob had almost NO breakage, as soon as it hit my shoulders it started snapping and breaking.

Not factual but IMO, the shorter the hair the less breakage...Folks who have recently BC'ed should probably shime.

I always have breakage with my MBL hair.

I hope others chime in...I too thought (because I read it here) that the longer your hair gets, the less breakage you have. Although I don't currently wear my hair out, I was looking forward to doing so once I reached BSB or longer. Thank you Fine 4s for that info.

I would think that the longer your hair gets, the more breakage you'd have.

Longer hair = Older hair

It's been through more trauma.

However, all of us get breakage. Minor breakage in healthy hair is nothing to worry about at any length because hair is not made of steel. It'll break from time to time.

when my hair was chin lenth i had almost no breakage. i wore my hair out everyday. it grew to SL and stayed there. never knew why but i would guess it was from the breakage.

Makes sense. I believe that the justification that I read in that thread was that once your hair passed SL or a point where your ends weren't constantly in motion, your ends wouldn't suffer as much breakage...longer hair sort of "lays" in place. I guess I'll just give up hope of wearing my hair out. :lachen:

I was wondering where you were Neith. I don't think I've seen you around for awhile. Good to see ya.

OP I've found that the longer my hair gets, the more I tend to put it up and away. Not necessarily as a PS but out of laziness lol. That could be why people with longer lengths don't experience much breakage.

SL-APL, that's the length where your hair begins to rub off against your shirt and many people find it shocking lol. They're used to their NL hair growing nicely with no breakage, but once you're SL it starts snapping and snagging.

i think thats what i heard too.

I have little to no breakage with my ceiling length hair :).

Lol, did the OP from that thread ever come back?

The "laziness factor" could very well be part of it.

my hair is bsl and it snags on everything when i wear it out. the worst culprit is my purse. when i throw it over my shoulder my hair gets caught and i can hear the snaps! i always end up putting it in a pony tail because i can't bear to hear it breaking.

Getting in and out the car breaks it too as well as it rubbing against the seat when i'm driving. i hear snap crackle pop!
