What does this pic say about my hair?

I took this picture same day I got my relaxer. There is so much space in my scalp. Does it mean my hair is too thin?

Maybe not necessarily thin. It looks like you just have very, very fine strands to me.

when i got my relaxer april 16 2010 my hair looked like this which prompted my relaxed hair journey. But i was panicking that i had thin hair but realized my hair became full again in 2 weeks or so. Im not sure if thats how your hair will be but im just sharing my experience and hope i helped in some way!

You are right, my strands are thin. I have never taken a pic of my scalp like this before so I was shocked.

Fine strands and thin hair are two different things. Fine strands is talking about the size of the individual stands, while thin hair is regarding the density of hair strands on your head, meaning how many (or how little) I agree that your strands are just fine, the fresh relaxer just made them seem finer.

I haven't relaxed my hair in a while so I don't remember what two weeks after feels like. I will wait and see. Thanks.

I think your hair simply has low density, plus you used flash. When you part it like that, you're bound to see lots of scalp.
Your hair looks healthy and shiny, I don't think anything's wrong. :yep:

In my opinion, it looks fine, as in okay. You've just had a fresh relaxer, what do you expect? If it looked like that after two months then there would be a problem.

It's the fresh relaxed look. I used to hate that I looked scalped my first few weeks. It will be fine down the road.:yep:

Yes sweetheart it's not dense. Please make an appt. with the derma.

You already have fine hair and medium density - so go to the doc and have them confirm if there is thinning.

I'm fine haired and thats exactly what my head looks like after a fresh relaxer. I feel bald for the first week or two after a relaxer, but my hair looks healthy! LOL

And I think also the feeling is exaggerated after I discovered stretching relaxers because I am used to having a thicker hair texture for longer periods of time now. I'm sure it is nothing to worry about. Looks healthy to me.:yep:

That's what I did. They couldn't tell me anything except that. All my labs were great but that spot wasn't only thin but would itch like the dickens. I got so obsessed with it, it wore me out. So that's partly why I shaved it all off and am now natural. Weirdly enough, my scalp is filling in (a little) and doesn't itch at all anymore.

Eta: OP your hair looks nice and healthy. I think you just have fine hair and your scalp looks healthy too.

i hope you saw my thread on my fresh texlax, you see how flat that hair was?????? if you saw it today, it looks thicker than in my siggy. and that thread is only a few days old. see how fast hair puffs up?

My hair was like that at the beginning of my hair journey. It appears that you may have fine hair. After big chopping, growing out and then texlaxing I discovered that my previous hair was overprocessed and thinning. My nape was non existent. I am not sure if this may be the same for you but I found that since I began texlaxing my hair density has improved and all the previous areas that were sparse and now filled in.

Thanks for the response ShiShiPooPoo. - Sometimes in that case it requires both a derma. and an allergist - go figure.

**There is a big difference between thin hair and low density. One can have thin strands - and have very dense hair. Density is measured by the number of strands in a sectioned part of the scalp. OP does not have very fine hair as the hairs are discernible by the pic, the density however of pictured section is not dense.

Sometimes switching to a DHT removing shampoo helps - Nexxus Vitatress

If there is thin hair in the crown and it is itchy, its best to leave it for last when you relax.

Could be an allergic reaction

It could be related to diet or stress

It definitely can not always be chalked up to "oh its just fresh relaxer"

Better to be thorough than let something get out of hand.

Let us know how it goes.
