i recently bc'd as well, and went through the same battle with dryness. not sure what products you're using, but herbal essence hello hydration condish is the truth...seriously. I also like silk elements megasilk moisture treatment as a dc and herbal essence long term relationship leave-in condish. as the others have mentioned, moisturizing and sealing with oil daily helps as well. i spray my hair with a mix of aloe vera and water and seal with a shea mix (shea butter, jojoba oil, jbco, and coconut oil).

do your research. Find a lady that has the same hair type and see what products work for her. I recommend taking photos of your hair the same time every month to document your progress. You will be surprised of the progress your hair is actually making. If you would like some bc encouragement, please feel free to look at my fotki and check out my twa style gallery. I got pretty creative in my twa days. www.fotki.com/bermudabeauty

S-curl and oil is not enough for really dry and tightly coiled hair. You should see a big difference once you add a creamy moisturizer into the mix. On my dryest sections of hair I layer with s-curl, creamy moisturizer, maybe a little more s-curl if needed, then top with oil. If you do this consistently you should see a big difference. The ladies have already given you great suggestions for a creamy moisturizer.

I can solve your driness problem.. Co wash every day with Aussie Moist. In fact I sometimes cowash 2x a day once in the morning and once during my shower at night. My hair dries out super easily, so I have to keep it wet. Then add a leave in.

I'm not natural, but I wouldn't give up so quickly. There's tons of natural ladies here who can give you lots of great advice. Hang in there; you have a great support system here at the LHCF. :-)

For my moisture, I use curl activator gels and then layer ecostyler on top for hold. The curl activator keeps my hair from being hard or dry. Also as someone mentioned, try to DC at least once a week. Castor oil is really good for sealing and locking in moisture also!

It may take awhile to figure out what products work for you. In the meantime, these are really good to add to your regimen...

1. Drink your water
2. Co-wash daily if you can
3. Steam treatments with a decent to very good DC

I def suggest something w/glycerin.. I use a mixture of AVG/distilled H2O and veg glycerin and my hair absolutely lubbs it

good luck and dont give up....

ITA, I'm 3 months post BC and my hair has never been more moisturized!! So much so that I haven't co washed since Sunday and my curls/coils are still very defined and most of all moisturized

Wow! So much advice! You ladies are great! Thank you!

Not to hijack the OP, but can anyone tell me the reason your hair is so dry when you first go natural? I have heard many of the natural ladies say time and again when they first bc or are fully natural their hair is ultra dry, but I don't know the reason for the dryness.

I'm wondering the same thing!

Giving up has never even been an option for me! I'm in it for the long haul! :yep:
