Thanks 4 our nail *****!
Soooo I fought my hair and my hair won. This is round 5 I think.....
My hair is crazy healthy which is a blessing because it should be dead by now. I want a wash and go! Bottom line. I wanted to be natural so first I tried that sourcream thing and my hair laughed at me. Then I tried the Cherry Lola treatment and my hair was dry...for like a minute.. but that's it. So then I tried BKT and my hair just detangled with more ease. So I did it again and again and again and it did nothing. So then last month I tried to texlax my hair after printing out and reading and highlighting that billion page thread. Well what happened you ask? Not a bleepin thing. Its just as healthy and curly and coily and still no hang it was dull for like a week but then I DC'd and it seems like its curlier and thicker than before. I still have my conditioner and lye relaxer combo in the fridge and it has been 4 1/2 weeks since my last attempt. I want to try again soooo badly but I'm not even sure the relaxer is still good. I don't know what to do but its summer and I want a wash and go. I have no patience and I know that soon I will shave my head if I don't find a solution then all this hard work would be for nothing. I go crazy when its HOT. Thanks in advance :)

Nobody has any advice? Should I try it? I have all kinds of time now, and the patience and attention span of a housefly.

Bump bumpity bump

i don't have much advice, but wanted to bump for you. i will say if that relaxer is not good DO NOT use it. your hair is amazingly resilient!!

what are you trying to change about your hair? i'm a little confused by your post.

I don't know how to tell if its not good. Hmmm
I want to have hang to my hair so I can so a wash and go. And I still want texture and curl but I am getting the worst single strand knots and to avoid that I end up straightening it all the time. I like my fro look but not everyday and it still takes forever to accomplish and seems to be the one thing my hair truly doesn't like. I want easy hair. The humidity mess up my straight look and shrinks my fro. My hair go to from BSL to my ears in 60 seconds.

My hair is really resilient too and I have done even more things to it only for it to look the same. I would reapply if I were you but I would get a new tub of relaxer. I can't explain why because I don't know but I never keep mixed relaxer.

I've been trying to make my hair looser and have more hang all year (two correctives) and this time I used Revlon in Super and my hair looked drastically different with the relaxer in but still looks practically the same dry. But it feels and behaves different so I'm hoping that I will see a big difference when I style it. I think one of the main reasons that my hair doesn't get looser is because I only use my hands to smooth and never a comb. I'm too afraid of totally losing my curls/texture so I'll live with it.

I still have about half a jar of ORS Extra strength lye relaxer that I never touched. The other half was mixed with conditioner and I still have some of that left in the fridge. I may not have used enough or perhaps I don't need to mix it with the conditioner. I only used my finger to smooth too because I have the same fears. This time I was going to apply it to my hair when its straightened. The last time I left it in for 13 minutes and it was diluted with relaxer so I will have to adjust that.

I wouldn't do a corrective, but it sounds like your itching to and it's supposedly ok to do after 4 weeks.

It's actually harmful to the relaxer to keep it in the fridge. There was a thread about that a couple months ago. I did a search but I can't find it. They quoted a scientist who stated that the low temp has some kind of harmful effect, I can't remember what. So, I would buy some more relaxer if you decide to do a corrective.

Does it absolutely have to be a wash and go? Couldn't you maybe try twistouts/braidouts, or even a wash and bun/updo/puff/ponytail? That shouldn't be excessively time-consuming, especially now that you are sort of texlaxed.

I am so sorry I have no advice whatsoever because I have a twa and all I can do is wash n go for the most part, so bored with it....But you look amazing with short hair....and you have such fabulous growth...I hope you get some good advice from the ladies on the board

Yes it has to be a wash and go I am too impatient for anything else and I don't know how to twist or braid well enough to be happy with it. Buns break my hair and tangles it badly so do braids but not twists so much. I don't think I wouldn't dare to consider myself texlaxed because you can not even tell I ever relaxed it. I just want a wash and go and I can't even bun it or pony with my shrinkage unless I do it while its wet and then my hair breaks as it drys in the pony.

I think your going to have to take a little time to learn how to do twists in your hair. It really is easy. Your hair will then have that hang that you want minus the chemicals.

Blow dry the hair first and take smallish sections to twist and then you'll have a hair that hangs.

Why not go to a salon with your hair already washed and blowed and let them twist it for you.

You shaved your head to go natural right? Don't give up now.

Hi Rosie, don't give up you did not shave to go natural and relax again so soon. Maybe trying some different gels or butters will help with your wash and go. Go out to youtube there are twist, braid outs and probably washngo videos to help you. I've not mastered the twist/braid out or washngo either but I won't relax. I just bun, maybe wet bunning will work for you. I use lots of creams, hair milks, leave in for my buns. Hope you find a solution.
