Hey everyone:)
So I'm going to buy the Roux PC product but wanted to know how most women on here use it. I've heard of people doing it before their protein and moisture treatments while others do it after. I'm not sure which is the best way so wanted to take a poll and hear some experiences. If you've tried it both ways, which way worked best for you and why? Even if you didn't try it both ways, I'd love to hear about your experience with the product and why you think your way is best.

Thanks

I use it as my final conditioner. It lowers the hair's pH and it closes the cuticle, so I use it last.

I loves me some Roux PC. But I don't think I have ever used it with protein treatment before.

Sometimes I use it before I deep condition and sometimes I used it after I deep condition. I haven't noticed a difference in using it before or after. My hair still comes out the same. But When I do rinse it out I do in cool water and my hair has great shine. It lays my cuticles down nicely.

I use it maybe once or twice a month.

I have nothing of value to add to this thread but Boingboing I swear your hair just looks like a smooth and silky black satin layer of deliciousness. I just want to run my hands through it.

Ok, let me stop. I'm sounding like a deranged stalker:look:

does it come in a small blue package.. i seen a single package that said Roux PC at the beauty supply . but i wasnt sure if that was the one that everyone talks about here.

I use it both ways depending upon my method of DCing - before if I DC without heat versus after if I DC with heat.

ETA: I do have to say that I really dislike using it as a final rinse because it makes my hair feel atrociously hard, but I do it for the pH benefits.

When I use it, it's my final step before I get out of the shower. And I always rinse it out with cold water too. I can feel my hair's texture changing as I apply it to my hair. I only use it when I feel it's necessary....about once a month or so. I tried using it every week, but the second week my hair did not feel so good.

It depends, if you DC with heat then make it your last step like you would an ACV rinse. If you don't DC with heat then you can apply it right after you shampoo, especially if you use a clarifying shampoo which will raise the cuticles somewhat.

The first time I used PC I fell in love ! I had tried air drying several times in the past with always the same result: frizzy, crunchy hair. So I purchased PC after all the good reviews I had read. I used it as my final conditioner, left it on for a min or two, rinsed with cold water, put my scarf on to lay down the edges, and went to sleep. I woke up to silky, smooth hair! I has hooked! I use PC after every DC as it lays down the hair cuticle. It usually doesn't make my hair hard, but when it makes it a little rougher than I'd like I just put on some HE LTR for a few mins, rinse it out, and I'm good to go. Sooooo, to answer the question, I use it after a treatment, always, and my hair has suffered no ill effects from using it at this frequency. HHJ ladies!

That's exactly how and why I use it, I don't like the smell though so I throw in some V05 or another cheap conditioner that smells good after the PC.

I agree with this. Sometimes i use it while i DC with steam too. But i basically do it how she does it

I Voted "After"

I use a Light/Med Reconstructor Weekly. So, I always follow-up with a Moisturizing DC'er under Steamer or Heat Cap.:yep:

Knowing that I have/had overly porous hair in the first place, my goal is to restore my hair to it's proper ph balance; close, tigthen, restrict my cuticle after being lifted/raised/swollen from the DC'ing treatment with heat.

I want to lock in that moisture from the DC'ing Session and that's where the PC treatment comes in, for me.

That's why I personally use it as my Final Rinse leaving on as per the directions. Works Fine.:yep:

Thanks, OP for this thread. I have been wondering how Roux would do on my hair for yrs now, and decided to pick up a small sample-sized bottle to try it. I noticed it says its use is for after chemical and color applications, but I no longer use chemicals (either relaxers or color) on my hair...I use all-natural henna-based dye and am transitioning. Is there any use for this product on my hair? TIA!

ETA: I have Roux Porosity Control Conditioner Corrector, and is this ok to use as a final rinse (after shampoo & DC)? If so, what does it do for the hair aside from correcting pH and smoothing the cuticle?

IMO: Porosity Control or any Acidifying Conditioning Treatment:

Is to help your Hair's ability to attract, retain, absorb moisture and to help combat parched, dry, brittle, hair the other issues that overly porous hair tend to have.:yep:

I use mine after I DC or shampoo. I simply add a little to a cheapie conditioner like Coconut Suave, leave in on a few mins and then rinse. I then put like a quater size amount on my hair as a leave in. I have had no ill effects using it this way weekly since it's diluted by the conditioner. Got this tip from Littlelamb(?).:yep:

definitely after the protein. the porosity control makes the cuticle lay down flat. I want the cuticle up when i'm doing my protein treatment then i'll use porosity control.

PC is always my last step in my wash routine. The only time I use PC before conditioning is when I'm doing my clear rinses.
