Were you surprised when you took your sew-in down and checked you hair length?

Was it what you expected? More than expected? Did your progress disappoint you?

I'm always surprised when I take my sew-in out. Everytime I get a sew-in I promise myself that I will take care of my hair but that usually only last the first 2 weeks. This is the growth I got from the last sew-in. I got it installed the 3rd week of March and took it out 2 weeks ago.

For me I can say that I definitely saw a difference in my hair after I took down my sew-in...shoot I always see a huge difference but it also depends on how long you keep it in and how you maintain it.

Yes. Even without a sew in my hair grows at a pretty good rate. I'm a transitioner, so I only wear sew ins not to deal with the relaxed hair or or both textures will be :catfight: lol

Wow you kept that in for almost 3 months. That's usually how long my current style lasts. I try my best to stretch it to 4

My first experience was a disaster because it was braided to tight and sewn in tighter so I had major hair loss. I now do my own weaves and I am seeing major progress.

this has never happened to me...

That was a bad experiece for me. But since i have been doing my own weaves, I am always surprised because it is always more than I exspect. What is your regime when you wear your sew in?

Yes, I usually do. I wear mine for 3- 3.5 months and when I take it out, I usually have reached a milestone or am on my way towards another one. I take care of my hair underneath weekly. It's usually longer and thicker so I'm going to use this as a protective style until I get to my goal of MBL.

Nichi, when you say weekly maintenance is that DC weekly or moisturise weekly or both?

The reason I ask is because I know you use Sensationnel but I read a negative review about weekly washing this hair. Whats your opinion?

Yes Im always surprised at the growth and thickness. I try not to exceed 3 mos for my installs now because Im scared that my hair will matt but I went 4 mos last time. I am always surprised at the amount of growth but Im transitioning witout a big chop so I usually get my progress cut off by taking off a little of the relxed ends each time.

I think when I first started I would always be really surprised. Sewins help me retain ALL my growth. So, now I know if I keep it for 3-4 mos, I can plan on seeing 1.5-2" when I take it down.

When I first started getting sew-ins, my stylist would always comment on how much my hair had grown when she was taking it down. I never really paid much attention to her until I decided I wanted to go natural. Now, I predict how much growth I should have after every install. I'm going to take the one I have in now down this weekend and I can't wait to see if I'm close to APL.

How long have you been wearing sew-ins back to back?

I did it throughout my transition, so 2-2.5 years. I tried to take 2-4 week breaks in between installs. I started at chin length and got to BSL within 1 yr 10 mos. I big chopped 4 mos later, so that I could be all natural. I was about APL when I chopped. It took about 8 mos for me to get back to BSL, and 4 mos after that to get to MBL.

I need about 3 inches to WL, so that should be by October. I really love how I can almost predict when I'll reach a certain length.

OT: I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you with the interview. I'll try as best as I can.

I've used this hair for my installs since 2005 and I washed it weekly. Sometimes every two weeks but that was when I went to the salon for maintenance. When I had the french wave I cowashed it every few days. Never had any problems with it.

To answer the OPs question - I have hair ADD so it depends on how long I leave it in. I had a weave for 3 months in the fall and I saw good growth from it. If I only leave it in a month or so I don't see a visible difference.

Yeah, girl I washed and moisturized EVERY week. I tried to do it every Thursday so I can get ready for the weekend. Make sense? I washed the weave and my own hair in the braids and then used a squeeze bottle and my fingers to oil my scalp and moisturize my braids.

I've used Remi Goddess for a while now and I 've had no problems with it tangling or shedding. Trust, if I had, I would've switched brands, why wouldn't I? It matches my hair well and that's why I stick to it. I also think my weekly washing keeps it fresh. I think any weave would experience trouble if not taken care of.

This is why I like the Goddess too. It matches my hair perfect. And it's good quality for a good price. It looks better after it's been washed a few times too.

Does it have that silky asian look? cuz i dont want that

The silky straight does but the yaki or the classic don't. The body wave and the french wave didn't either. But most hair has a silicone coating on it fresh out the pack which makes it look somewhat shiny. Once you wash it, the coating comes off and it's not shiny anymore. This is the goddess yaki here in this picture. I had a little bit of my hair left out on the top around the part that was blowdried and flat ironed. It blended pretty well. I wasn't sure how it was going to look because my hair is natural but it worked out.
