i like it but wouldn't do it b/c it's too much of a hassle. it's easy for celebs b/c they have hair stylists who are with them all the time so if they want regular hair one day, the stylist can get some great tracks and put them in to simulate another look. i don't have the luxury. i'm trying NOT to spend money to buy either a weave or tracks or whatever + salon service if i get bored with the style and i would get bored. plus it depends on your job. people in the fashion business could get away with the cut and it would not affect their work by garnering negative attention

I love that style but then again i loved the half shaved (bottom half) style in middle school. but i wouldnt do it unless i was a celeb

These styles really aren't new. They were popular in the 80's and early 90's. I had my hair done somewhat similiar in the early 90's only mine was short all around with length in the front.

It's really not that bad growing out if you keep your hair up. I wouldn't do it now because I want to be full APL when straightened and I want to get rid of my layers. But if I wanted a short/shaved edgy look I would do it in a heartbeat. Around here I have seen several young girls with similar hairstyles.

I would never do this style by cutting ever ever.

I cornrowed the side of my hair going back into the same effect and put a banana clip in, took out the ends of my hair. I had a mini hump in the top so it was cute.

Wow, these poll results are so interesting. So far there's only one person who said they would do it but are too scared. I thought there would be a lot more of that one.

The results shouldn't be too surprising since the board is about growing long hair. :drunk: I bet if you asked some people IRL the results would be very different.

Nope, the only way your going to get me to shave my head like that is if I develop cancer or something similar. I flat out refuse to walk around looking like that. :nono::nono:

Your right my best friend told me, before she got the same style. IF I wanted to grow hair I will grow it, so I am cutting it off, she went from the rihanna style to a crew cut basically. She is now growing it out. Her 16 year old has the same cut.

I just want to see how she is going to grow it out, I DOUBT she is getting a crew cut.

:lachen: Girl are you reading my mind, I thought it but wasn't going to say it. LOL

It looks nice to me, but I just think about the repercussions of my actions like the grow out faze. All in all I think it is sharp, I just wouldn't do this to my hair.

I agree with these styles not being anything new. I've been seeing white folks that were punk rockers weaing shaved sides for years. I would never do it, I think it looks ugly and ridiculous.

I think it's hottt on celebrities, but it would never fit my lifestyle. I've seen a few college girls rocking it IRL and they look cute. I find myself wondering, where do they work? If I ever got the urge to try this, I'd just do a braided one-sided mohawk or something, but I wouldn't shave my head.

Its not that cute for me or anyone else. I think its such a waste to cut your long beautiful hair and make it into such an ugly style. Only was I could see this being somewhat cute is if their hair was short to begin with and the longer side was added as extension.

I agree that this may not be a "new" style for white folks, but for black girls with long hair I think it is very new. I personally don't know anyone IRL who has this style with hair that's longer than ear length.

There seems to be a lot of concern about the grow out faze which I think is understandable if the cut was as extreme as Cassie's, but I'm talking about a very small patch of hair, not the whole side of my head. I'm really not concerced about growing the hair out, because I know I'll figure something out.

In the early 90's when black women started shaving the backs of their heads it was a big issue as well, but they worked around the grow out faze.

I appreciate and respect everyone's oppinion on this and thank you all for responding. But I have to laugh when I hear people say it looks stupid and riduculous because I just don't agree.

would I do it no, not at all but if you really like I say go for it :D take lots of pics too. I've never seen a black women irl with the style.

I totally agree, I've always had long hair too and would never dream of it. I don't know many black women with long hair that do 'crazy' things to it. Only a classmate who cut her mbl hair to shoulder length and my mom who cut her bsl to ear length.

I think it looks kinda silly but still really cool. If you can understand that with a nice outfit I think it's awesome. :yep:
I mean I am in love with pigtails and that looks silly at least this is trendy.

I'm not surprised about the number of people that wouldn't do it, I knew that would be the majority. I'm just surprised at the number of people who said they would like to but are too scared.

I understand what you're saying and believe it or not I like pigtails too and have worn them on several occasions. I've always liked to try different things with my hair. But I've never cut it other than the time I got a chin legnth bob with a tiny shave in the back. My hair grew back so fast it was like I'd never cut it. :yep:

I wouldn't do it. Ever. But i saw a girl with it and i thought she looked good. She had dyed her hair blond as well, to give it something extra.
The only thing i've been thinking of shaving on my head is my nape.
Are you going to go to the barbers to do it?

I think ppl look better when they either shave it all or leave it alone. Plus, I just don't have the head shape for it.

Hi, thanks for responding. No I'm going to the hairstylist, she's good at the really low cuts, plus I need a relaxer. :yep:

Not at all, I think it looks cuter when it's done with braids or just a very small cut. The only person I ever liked it on was La-La. I think you have to have the right style and face for it, if you do and you plan to pull it off and rock it everyday of the week then good luck and go for it!

I know some people who've done it, they look cute! I like the look but I wouldn't do it, you definitely need to have the personality and a certain facial look (not necessarily facial structure) to pull it off. I don't think Raven looks good with it. :(

It looks alright on other people, it just isn't for me. I'd rather just do cornrows in place of the shaved patch for a similar effect, which I'm also able to undo afterwards when I want to :D

Hecky naw. Its too extreme for me, and since cassie is known for being the first to do it, anyone that does it after her (ESPECIALLY a non-celebrity) could be branded a lame copycat. No mam :nono:

Hey, you only live once and its JUST hair, so have fun. When I was going through hair school I got tired of my hair and i went home one day got my clippers out and shaved my hair down....all of it. I was one of the most liberating feelings i have EVER felt. I cant describe the feeling but I loved it. I keeped my hair short for the next 7 years before I started transitioning. But i ROCKED my hair, I had people biting off of MY styles because I just did what made me feel and look good. So if you do it, rock the heck out of it and make it YOUR style. and I guarantee you'll start seeing people in your town trying to imitate you.

I've never told anyone this but I have a random patch of shaved hair in the middle of my head. It's always hidden. I use it monitor growth vs. retention.

I live in Los Angeles so take what I say with a grain of salt...LOL.

Yes, I would do it...if I wasn't on a long hair journey.
