@firecracker, this isnt the entertainment forum. my hair is worse than angelas, so i know the pain that exists in hairloss. it can happen to u and its not funny. a woman's hair can fall out from having cysts on her ovaries, thyroid problems, stress, etc.

child, i could promise u wouldnt make jokes if u had my kind of bald spot

I believe her hairline has been that way for years...way before she became famous. I remember seeing her in a couple of things back in the day with her hairline this way.

Ok I understand the point your making but the topic is angela bassetts hairline and she as well as naomi are clearly suffering from their condition because they have not been taking care of their hair....
You are right you never Know what happens in life....but what I do know is that my hair will never look like that from my own doing and lack of knowledge...

It might not necessarily be from bad weaves. Sometimes balding temples/receding hairlines are hereditary.

Couple that with her being in her 50's, well...... :look:

A lot of black women in the entertainment industry fail to take care of their real hair underneath the braids and weaves and this is the end result :ohwell:.

Oh, I see somebody beat me to it. That's what I was thinking too... :yep:

It could be genetics at play (or a health issue). And that would be something that money CAN'T fix. No matter HOW much you got... :nono:

My bad! :spinning: Well damn that is what I get for only looking at topics under New Post & Todays Post only. When I saw two celebs up in here and Angela's name I assumed like an arsehole that it was the Entertainment Forum.

I am sorry about your situation but I can tell you that I will laugh at my own hairloss. I experienced it at a very young age by my own doing from nerves/stress. The doctors thought my roots were dead and my hairline would not grow back. My mother the hair struck woman was more bothered by it than I was. I wanted her to cut it all off and she refused.

If my hair fell out tommorrow I'd simply cut it all off like I have done many times before. Its only hair. It does not define me. I have cut my hair to the scalp several times and rocked it well.

some people shave/thin out their hairlines purposely to achieve a "realer" look with the lacefront.

honestly, i have seen worse hairlines in real life and on hair boards.
I still have to say, Angel is still beautiful!

That is a good point, we dont really know why her hair is thinning there. Like I said before, I hope she can remedy it, and I hope everything is okay.

Maybe its from the wear and tear from all those years, or health maybe. At least its not as bad as Vivica's hairline:

NOTHING is there!!

Wow. These women did not think through the long term effects of all of these wigs and weaves that were being touted as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Beyonce, Brandy ( who was getting braids every other WEEK back in the day) Tore their hair lines UP! now - they are dependant on weaves. Sad. :nono:

Most of these "celebrity stylists" are usless, really. All this money they are being paid and they have zero knowledge of healthy hair care. I feel bad for Angela- I hope she finds her way to this site. :ohwell:

EXACTLY. I watched an interview with Elgin Charles this morning.... He has been in Beverly hills for 25 years... his prices are HIGH and he is not all that... He told his story about doing Natalie coles hair... and he was married to Jackee'...:perplexed NOW - Both these women are notorious for weaves and wigs.

so - you are right....a celeb stylist - is a lucky stylist - that gets some star to come to them, one time... then - he or she will charge you too much money.... PLEASE.

Oprah has told the same stories about going to a fancy salon - and losing all your hair.

These stars were wearing weaves and 'undetectable' wigs long before it was common knowledge to the public.....

:nono: no matter. It is sad.

i think thats just the way susan's hairline is. and it sad how angelas hairline is. not funny. this should be a place to seek advice about better hair care or even comfort when ur hair isnt doin too well. not be bashed or laughed at. and ppl shouldnt be put on blast for having unhealthy hair. we dont know whats goin on with her. it could even be a health thing. we dont know. but making fun of a bad situation isnt the way. its just wrong.

And no, it wouldn't surprise me if Beyonce had the same thing going on, because she's queen of the lacefronts - next to Tyra..

I've seen pics of Tyra and Beyonce's hairline and they have full hairlines in spite of the weaves and lace fronts.

Like everyone else said Angela's hairline could be caused by several things. Heredity, tension, illness, etc..

Maybe the humor comes in the presentation of the post and not the actual hair loss. I would hope we all (most) could empathize with how painful of a situation this has to be. Most women (not all) are VERY sensitive about their hair; add being a woman of color and it makes for a tense situation. I understand that health issues may play apart here...if that were to ever happen to me (God forbid) I would have to incorporate some kind of a bang (china bang, swoop bang, wispy bang, etc.) into my style mix to camouflage the damaged edges (if I wasn't boss enough to sport a baldy). The point I'm trying to make is I would seek help/alternatives. Maybe these women don't want help.

Better yet, maybe what we haven’t considered is that whatever they might be going through (health issues, hereditary hair loss, tension, bad hair practices, etc.), they long since accepted what it is (or isn’t) and have decided to keep it pushing...edges be damned! (Just a thought)

It is sad because I think many of us could not imagine...but there are some of us who don't have to.

The hairlines are sad but what's sadder is that some of these women - namely Vivica and Angela - don't seem to notice or be bothered by the damage. In that condition, I would think the last things anyone would put in their hair are headbands and cornrows which do nothing but showcase and exacerbate the problem.:ohwell:

While most of us are thinking "wow you have money to get proper care", it may be the opposite. They may think "oh well, if my hair is jacked up, I'll just buy a $5000 wig to cover it."

Look at Alicia Keys, her hair is clearly not as voluminous as it used to be. Same thing with Mya. I think over time, to keep up with trends and requirements for roles, stars go through extra abuse at the hands of others and just have to deal with it. I could totally see "style over health" being the objective.

the hairline damage may be hormonal. that happens to some women when they hit menopause and after childbirth.

my edges were bald and fell completely out about 5 months after my son was born. took about 3 months to grow back. it was all hormonal.

Thank you. There have been several pics of Bey with, what looks like a partial weave or tracks and her natural hairline is just fine. That lets me know her mama 'nem got her on some other type of regimen for hair and had not just been entrusting the health of her hair to celebrity styling methods.

Oprah is proof; Tyra is proof; Bey is proof. IMO, Angela B./Susan Taylor/Vivica F/Brandi, et al are all examples of what can happen chasing after the ever-elusive "perfect" head of hair for that "look" you need in show-business. You gotta have your own hair health in mind. These celeb stylists are just as bad as the ones around the way.

Angela Bassett has never given birth.

Beyonce is another celebrity with a weird hairline.

I really haven't noticed anything wrong with Bey's hairline. Does anyone have a photo of a "jacked up" Beyonce hairline?

This is really sad. Black women all over need to take first class care of their hair because no one else is going to do it for them. Their stylists should be shot in the butt.

Also, Angela has 2 young twins and she is a much older mother than normal. That could be the source of her stress and hair loss too.

Alicia Keys? Her hair looks great...IMHO
