Name it...I've tried it!
Just wondering if anyone has tried anything recently that worked.

I just relaxed from a 5 month stretch and my edges are almost see through.
It seems like the hair follicles are dead..especially at my widow peak.

'Appreciate any suggestions!

This isn't really a suggestion but I can sympathize. My edges have started to thin about bit :( I've started using Boundless Tresses so I'm hoping I see growth to my edges.

I've read the same amount peppermint oil - just never tried it though.

I really hope you find something that works for you!

I read online that castor oil was suppose to have properties that blocked dht. Have you ruled out head bands, tight pony tails as the culprit?

Do you put the relaxer on your edges?

I don't know if this is an option for you, but if that's a problem area for you maybe try not putting the harsh chemical on it. After microbraids ate up my edges in 2007, I stopped relaxing my edges for about 6-8 months, then when I did relax them I put the relaxer on them last. I'm texlaxed though and don't go for the bone straight look and I wear a lot of curly styles so I don't mind still seeing some of my texture.

I hope someone can chime in with more ideas for you.

Yes, I heard using peppermint oil and a natural oil like Castor stimulates hair growth. Your hair is beautiful.

I've also been using peppermint oil as a scalp treatment (to prevent dandruff and excessive gunk build up) before I shampoo regularly since about Dec '09, but I can't say that I've noticed any thickening of my hair. It might be thickening and stimulating hair growth but maybe I'm not noticing it because it could be coming in gradually.

Thanks for the suggestions! I tried castor oil for a little while and saw no results. I wear loose buns to avoid pullin my hair tight and I stopped pullin my hair back in pony tails.

I really do think relaxer is the culprit but i thought maybe long stretches will give my edges time to breathe.
I hate the fuzzies but i guess i'll have to avoid relaxing my edges period :ohwell:

Thank u India!

I just read abt peppermint oil to stimulate growth so I might give that a try

I have the same problem as you and sadly nothing has worked for me. I tried the growth aids, oils, no relaxing etc. I think my follicles are dead. The only other option i have is shots and i'm terrified of needles.

I had a bald hole in my edges on the right side. It scared me,I think it's post partum related though.. It's now starting to fill in. I used megatek on the scalp everyday followed buy a nice clean oil (the lavender hollywood oil or their castor mink oil ). I occasionally put mtg on it.I put my scarf down lower so it's not on my edges and now I'm braiding it in a different direction and I vowed never to go to another braid shop again.
There was a thread about this a while back and it had a lot of good tips. I also make sure to juice the area! I still have a ways to go but at my last shampoo day it wasn't shiny bald anymore.
