You have gorgeous skin!!

Hey LHCF! I guess you could say that I'm a new member, even though I've been lurking since 2007! When I first heard of LHCF, I had just gotten a relaxer after I'd spent an entire year of transitioning! I have one of those families that doesn't understand any other hairstyle but bone straight :ohwell:.

So anyway, I'd just gotten another relaxer and had it for about 6 months before I decided to transition again (I was 15 at the time). Again, I wore braids during my junior year. Then came time to take senior pictures, so i wore it straight for awhile. I made it to BSL during my transition, which is the longest I'd ever been.

I never BC'd, just trimmed here and there. I don't even remember what happened but I know I wasn't BSL by the end of that year, more like APL. I guess I didn't have much time for my hair. I wore a donut bun most of that time, and obviously wasn't doing it right because I wasn't retaining any length. Plus, I had this annoying hair dresser that was begging me to get my ends trimmed. She even asked me if I had religious reasons not to trim my hair. :drunk:

Now I'm 18, and I've decided what works for me and what doesn't. I always retain length with braids and cornrows, and even though i get tired of them, I have no excuses not to wear them. I moisturize daily, deep condition at least once a week, and i plan on co-washing this summer because it really helped me last summer.

I wore braids from 1/18/10 and took them out 4/5/10 and this is my progress...

And this is my hair now... my goal is to get back to APL by the end of June. I'm going to wait until then for a real length check, because my lack of flat-ironing skills are obvious in these pictures!

This is my ultimate goal, maybe late 2011...

Hey, welcome!! Keep up the good work, your hair (and you) are so cute in the last pic!! Happy Hair Growing!!!

Thanks, DSylla! You are one about 10 people on this forum I would recognize in person!

that's a blessing and a curse.

I'm recognized a lot in NYC and it feels nice knowing that someone remembers you. but it could be a curse because I'm recognizable therefore, I couldn't get away with much... :look: well,i think it's the hair that's recognized, not so much my face.

Welcome. Your hair is so pretty and you are too. I wish I had found this website at 18, i would have grown out my hair and cut it off many times by the age I am now(35).

:welcome: Your very pretty and your hair is beautiful, keep up the great work and welcome to the forum. :)
