Have you tried altering your regimen by using less protein and/or more moisture. Based on your pics, it looks like you're having breakage...you can see all those short pieces of hair at your hairline.

this a retaining issue b/c if you hadn't relaxed in over a year and it's still @ the same length then the problem is retaining the hair. I guessing you have both natural & relaxed hair which is two different textures. Try to find a balance that would work with the two textures

as for the little hairs, i can see them on the first pic
but you mean, after a year, you still have no new growth at all?

Is you new growth straighten in the 2nd pic? I have ng that will make my overall length visibly shorter if its not straighten out.

Take a length shot with the hair combed down straight (not directed to a "V" or point), that way we can see a better picture of your ends. I think you may be loosing length via breakage, however you're not going to be able to narrow down your weak spots if you take pics with the hair combed to the center. People with natural "v" shaped hair can comb their hair straight back and the "v" will form naturally.

For instance the pic below is an older progress pic of my hair...you see the ends at each point and how the hair naturally forms a "v". This pic helped me to see, where my hair was thinner at and what areas I needed to focus on.

So have you not actually touched up yet then? You've said you've got significant newgrowth, so you are probably experiencing major shrinkage. You should assess after you've touched up.

i notice you put problem solved, what was the answer?

i'm just wondering cause i got no new growth at all last month, and i had no breakage. i'll be damned if i go a whole year w/o growth!

what do you suggest?

Try to keep it a simple as possible. This what I do for my mom who has both natural & relaxed hair.
1. I detangle her hair w/ oil (coconut or olive oil) it provides so much slip. I use both a big tooth comb & a smaller tooth (not that small).
2. Wash her hair in loose braids mostly concentrating on her scalp the shampoo run off washes the rest of her hair.
3. I deep condition her hair (after I unbraid her hair but I don't comb it) w/ both a protein & moisturizing conditioner really well. I apply it like a relaxer root to tip especially concentrating on the line of demarculation(sp?) for about 30 mins w/ heat. Then use porosity control as a final rinse
4. Rinse really well and apply giovanni sas (a little) & aphogee green tea spray and blow dry her hair gently w/ the comb attachment. If I flatiron, I use chi silk infusion & the sedu @ 270 deg w/ two swipes. After that, a lite leave-in.
I think you should try a low mani. Style such as updos, buns, braids(out) or twists(out). Moisturize w/ spray leavin twice a day and try to be really careful when combing the hair b/c of the two different textures. This is just an idea that you could do and adjust it to your preference.

You seem so adamant that your issue isnt breakage :/.....perhaps you should revisit that theory.... I dont think the ladies are saying that you are having catastrophic breakage.... but if you have "new growth" and no new length= breakage

*unlesss you can provide some rationale such as excessive trimming....this is an issue of breakage

now what you need to determine is whether or not this breakage is at the line of demarcation or little hairs falling off here and there!

I really want to see you progress because your hair is lovely...but as another poster said from the pics you have shorter pieces at the hairline....please reconsider!

Pre-LHCF I would do braidouts when wet and I noticed my hair length did not change for nearly 6months...All seemed well I was DCn weekly.....but looking back I was always loosing little 1/4 or 1/2 inch pieces of my ends here and there.... I didnt think much of it because it was soo small....also when combing I never looked to see if the hairs I were loosing were ACTUALLY shed hairs with the bulb attached.

Around this time I also learned from LHCF that my hair wasnt a fan of protein (I was mixing egg w/ Hair mayo)and that was causing my hair to snap. Im thinking you should loose the 15min egg followed by mild protien before straightening. Now I have increased moisture in my reggie and my retention has gone through the roof!!

I also suggest that you closely evaluate you detangling reggie....see if you are in fact
loosing "shed hair" with the bulb attached and look out for little hairs. That will help you determine if the breakage is at the line of demarcation or your ends

HTH!
