Okay as you know I'm new on here :newbie: (yaaay me)! Ive been surfing this board for about a month now and decided to join. I'm so proud to see my sisters growing beautiful long hair BUT why am I stuck at this stage? I tried everything and I am being patient but how long is it going to take? My hair never seems to grow past this length (pic at bottom). I will give it up to MN though, that has helped tremendously with the growth step. (that post with pics will follow this one, dont want to give you a headache right now :nono:)

Sooooooo to make a long story short, PLEASE HELP ME W/ THIS HAIR, IT WILL NOT GROW PAST THIS LENGTH!

MAKE SURE U CHECK OUT MY OTHER THREAD THAT WILL FOLLOW THIS SHORTLY ABOUT MY MN USE =)

How do you wear your hair on a daily basis, do you incorporate protective styling? If you've only seriously started hair care a month ago you're going to need to allow a bit more time. It takes some folks a year or more to get to APL from SL but then it takes others a matter of months.

Once your hair gets to SL, the end start to experience friction with your clothes hence damage, so in order to get past that length, you need to start wearing your hair up and away from your clothes with the ends tucked away from the drying air. Regular dusting (very tiny trims) will keep your ends healthy and full and if you seal the ends (apply a heavy product to shield them from element abuse) and then bun, and keep your diet healthy and exercise, you will see yourself get to APL in due time. Also low manipulation can help prevent unnecessary breakage.

However, if you're as lazy or as much a joker as I am and won't make the sacrifice of sealing and hiding ends from the air and your clothes, then I'll cordially offer you a lifetime membership in my club of "Forever SL".

Adrienne's method of protective styling (which is what we call hiding away ends--the oldest part of our hair and hence the most worn out--to keep them from being abused by the elements) is kinda cool and incorporates baggying (covering hair with plastic) which is a sure way to keep ends from the drying air. Check it out here and then behold how far protective styling took her here.

:hiya3: and :welcome:

I'm sure more ladies will chime in soon. Be sure to post as many details as you can about your hair and what your doing in your original post.

Products you use
Type of climate you live in
Hair type
Water condtions
Vitamins, diet, etc.

Thanks for replying ladies, but I been taking care of my hair for about a good year now...but it never gets past this....I cant even recall when last I had it long. But my regimen is i use carrot oil mixed w/ mn (oil my scalp w/ it) then use profectiv products to moisturize the ends of hair. I wash once a week. (I admit i just stared deep conditioning, lol) I wrap my hair nightly. I either wear my hair down or pinned up like the one in the pic below. but it still wont get anywhere, am I doing something wrong?

Nonie I think i wear my hair down like 3-4 times a week, maybe i will pin it up more, lol and thanks @myfriend .....

Regular deep conditioning will really help imo. What's your water intake like and do you take regular exercise?

What are the name's of the products you use? How often do you use your MN/Carrot oil mix?

i dont think your stuck there, you hair just cant stop growing at SL, you have to wear updos and not let your ends brush on your shoulders, and clothes for a while untill you get pass that length thats all.

wow didnt realize you already said what i just posted, OP follow this ^^^^^

I go to the gym 3-4 times a week also. And I am at that weird length too. So evey night I moisturize with Giovanni Direct Leave in or ORS Olive Oil Moisturizer and seal with Proclaim Natural 7 oil and braid it in 4 cornrows. It works wonderful for working out. And then when I get dressed I take them down, finger comb and start pinning them up in a faux bun. It looks something like this.

In this pic my hair is flat iron so it is a little thinner looking. But, now I stopped flat ironing and it looks much fuller.

I ddep condition with ApHogee 2 min reconstructor. And then I follow up with Aussie Deeeeep 3 Min Moisture Miracle. And my hair is in great condition thus far.

Hope this helps :)

How long do you DC for? I just did my first one about a week ago, so I guess I'm due for another....:ohwell: you think it's safe to color my hair now? the DC

Yeah I would definitely not color right now. I DC for I guess a total of 5 mins. LoL 2 mins with Aphogee and 3 with Aussie Deeeep. I just got sick and tired of jumping in and out of the shower (that's the only place I wash my hair). If you want a good DC you can try ORS replenishing Pak. It has protein and moisture and you can leave it on for thirty mins with a plastic cap. Or do a search for deep conditioners that the other women use there are so many... and I mean SOOOOOOO many.

Trust me... If you start incorporating all the tips from the ladies you will start retaining your length. Your hair might grow slow right now but it's definitely growing.
