Ivey14, thanks for getting it jump-started. I'm with you, girl!

Njoy, thanks for bringing this challenge to my attention!

I'm going for it :yep: ! This will be VERY hard for me, since I prefer keeping my hair straightened to lessen the urge to BC during my transition to natural....ARRRGH, I can't take the 2 textures :nono:....BUT, I value health over style, so here I go! I'm honkering down, and putting my mind to it.

I'm gonna need you ladies to help me!!! Style suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I love the results of rollersets, but it takes too long, and I get migraines when I get those rollers tight enough to get my roots straight. I can't seem to get a good braidout/twistout, because of my two textures of hair thing...I'll be bunning most days, but when I need it straight,, help!

I think I'll give myself 3 passes for the year: my sis's wedding, my anniversary, and 1 for general purpose.

Okay, let's do it!

I've vowed to not use hair on my hair this year because I have a patch of heat damage in my nape area and I don't think the straight hair look is worth losing curls over. :nono:

I will make it without heat this year along with you! :yep:

You can do it! We got cha, Mama!

How is everyone's hair doing without the heat?

So far, so good! Still heatless. :yep:

The last time I used [direct] heat on my hair was October 2009, so I just realised I am 6 months heat-free!!!

:woohoo:

I get little urges to blow dry every now and then, but then I remember... the tree branch split ends I kept finding, and the fact that all the previously heat-treated hair is still at the ends and will need trimming and if I keep blowdrying I will inevitably have to trim more which will make it take longer to achieve my hair goals... breathe....:lachen:... so I get my hair back in another protective style and keep it movin!

My hair is thriving on no-heat. Some people's hair can handle lots or a little bit of heat, but I really needed to go cold turkey no-heat and it is working wonders for me right now.

You guys are doing great!!

I was so scared to flat iron my hair a couple weeks back due to heat damage I got from a stylist earlier in the year. Although I successfully straightened without any further harm, I'd rather not deal with the crippling fear ever again.

I'm going to try not to use heat for the duration of the year. Can I make it? I dunno....
But you guys are so inspiring, i'm going to try!

Still heatless. I was tempted to flat iron a small section of my texlaxed hair for a length check yesterday, but then I remembered "no heat 2010!" :naughty:

I've been heat free since March of this year. My goal is to be heat-free for the rest of the year. Using heat has really been the reason for getting splits on my hair strands for the past couple of years. After my last episode of heat in March, I gave myself a 1 inch trim and have been wearing my hair in different natural styles: buns, curly twistouts, puffs, and braidouts. My current length is APL and I'm hoping for BSL by the end of this year. :)
