I was never able to stretch my relaxers until I started washing my hair with baking soda. Shampoo always makes my new growth a little hard. Washing with baking soda makes my hair, even my new growth, really soft.
For the ladies that use cones, do you clarify at all?
I shampoo maybe every 6 weeks or so. Even when I do I always add conditioner to it so it won't rob my hair of moisture.
No you are not the only one, but as for me, me and my hair love shampoo.

My new growth isn't difficult to soften/detangle, it's the relaxed hair that's tangling and hard to manage. I thought it would be the other way around.
I wish I could say I'm on this bandwagon, but alas, my scalp can not handle conditioner alone. I tried it last summer and my scalp itched so bad I thought I'd bore a hole in my head. I'll stick with shampoo...it's not doing to much damage. Besides, an unhealthy scalp means very unhappy hair!
I agree. I only use CON or some other conditioning shampoo. I have WAY too much build up with conditioner alone.
