shampoo dries my hair out if I use to often. Even the natural kinds. I limit to once a month. I use the garnier Triple nutrition and dilute it with water and mix with a bit of olive oil.

No such thing as ever being the only person who does what ever in a group of people.

I shampoo twice a week or ever 5 days, every time I co wash instead I get scare and just poo. I love my shampoo, I love natural shampoo the lather just feels nicer.

I tried it but I've had issues w/scalp psoriasis and I need to shampoo. When I don't I have a very scaley scalp.

I haven't used shampoo in like a year. when i used to shampoo my hair would always look like i was natural even when i just got a relaxer days before. my hair feels amazing without shampoo

I haven't used shampoo since June 09' and I have no intentions of ever using it again. I do however do a BS or ACV rinse once every 2wks.

I wish I could say I'm on this bandwagon, but alas, my scalp can not handle conditioner alone. I tried it last summer and my scalp itched so bad I thought I'd bore a hole in my head. I'll stick with shampoo...it's not doing to much damage. Besides, an unhealthy scalp means very unhappy hair!

I stopped using Shampoo on a regular basis a little over a month ago and my shedding has decreased DRAMATICALLY! I love it!

I was never able to stretch my relaxers until I started washing my hair with baking soda. Shampoo always makes my new growth a little hard. Washing with baking soda makes my hair, even my new growth, really soft.

My new growth isn't difficult to soften/detangle, it's the relaxed hair that's tangling and hard to manage. I thought it would be the other way around :ohwell:.

Once I get rid of my Aphogee & Creme of Nature Shampoo, I may try this. The only problem is, I have enough to last for years. :drunk:

I have been contemplating getting rid of it for a while now.. Last time i shampooed was about a month ago...

But after seeing this thread i am going to put my poo in the trash.. I wasn't really sure if my hair got "clean" but really it has been doing very well...

I only shampoo when I need to clarify or when I want to wear my hair straight and know I'm gonna put heat on it. So I very rarely use shampoo anymore. I'm talking maybe once every 2 months if that.

I shampoo maybe every 6 weeks or so. Even when I do I always add conditioner to it so it won't rob my hair of moisture.

This is a habit I have recently adopted myself BM. It really does work and I find the moisture level in my hair to stay pretty high too. It has been a while since I have added any poo or conditioner to my hair and I think it's time I do. Maybe right now...:yep::grin:.

Try using porosity control and cold rinses for your final wash to help the cuticles lie flatter.

I typically shampoo every other week or once a month, it depends. I must say that my hair retains more moisture since joining LHCF and learning about co-washing which has in turn allowed me to cut back on my shampoo usage.

For those of you that use Baking Soda only, how do you apply it to your hair to wash (Do you put it in a spray bottle, pour it over your whole head and wash etc.?) Also do you spray on your scalp and hair or just concentrate on your scalp and let it run down your hair?

I don't really use shampoo, however co-washing didn't work for me. I use Hair One and it works great for me....my scalp and my hair feel super clean after using this. I love it!

Full agree @ bolded!

If you find the right shampoo for your strands then it shouldn't cause any damage at all, I don't understand the notion of shampoo stunting growth/retention....or maybe I'm not reading the thread correctly? Not using shampoo makes the manageability of the hair easier?

I use Elucence Moisture benefit shampoo, dilute it in a color applicator bottle and apply it like that. My hair is never stripped feeling, tangled or left feeling dry afterwards.

I shampood yesterday for the 1st time in a couple of months. My hair felt so dry afterwards!!

Back to no poo for me!!

I agree. I only use CON or some other conditioning shampoo. I have WAY too much build up with conditioner alone.

Same here. I use CON green label (discontinued, sadly ), or my all-natural shampoo bars, which are ultra-gentle. I have lots of flaking on the scalp (yucko) if I only do CW's with no poo at least once per month. I only poo once per month either way, whether doing CW's in between or not. My scalp stays pretty clean.
