OK this is my very first thread (I think) so go easy on me. I have been wearing a wig as a protective style for the past 2 months. I'm doing it really because its cold here and I didn't want my damp hair exposed or rubbing up against my collar or inside hats. I keep my hair cornrowed underneath my lacefront wig. I deep condition at least once a week. I moisturize and seal with something twice a day. I've also started baggying within the past week since I've found a way to wear the plastic cap under my wig. Here is my concern. When I remove my cornrows after 4 weeks - after the takedown, the wash, deep condition, detangling and rebraiding - it appears that I have lost just as much hair as I would have doing it at least once a week.
Can my hair really shed that much when I'm protecting it?
I'll post a picture when I get home. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I'm fully natural (mostly 4a with tight coils).
NO it is NOT normal! I had the same problem I posted about before! What I found cut down my hair loss by about 80% was washing and detangling my hair in sections
You likely cut down on breakage, which is not normal.
