Blowdrying on cold air

This works great, but it works even better if the speed is on low (less flyaways and sleeker look). I use to use heat often but I wanted to change. Air drying made me look a mess, but my hair did feel stronger without the heat. So I mixed them and got the best from both worlds!

i blow dry on low and click the "cool" button and my hair loves it. it takes a little longer but the results are worth it. my hair feels light and soft. at the end, i run the dryer thru my hair espeially the roots with the cool button off and the dryer on the low setting.

Does anyone think blowdrying, whether it be on cool or warm, is damaging? Have you noticed more split or "rough" looking ends from doing this?

I started doing this ocassionally and my hair feels less dry as compared to when I air dry. Whenever I airdry my hair feels like a crunchy dry mess. But I am too lazy to blow dry every week so I just try to sit under a hooded dryer.

Do you blow dry with the comb attachment, a round brush or just blow dry your hair loose?

I blowdried it loosely. I dont have the coordination to do it with a brush and I dont have a comb attachment yet. BUT I wasn't aiming for my hair to be straight I just wanted it to dry fast so it did not come out straight. If I was trying to get it straighter I believe I would have to use a comb attachment or a brush. It takes a lot to straighten my hair.

I do a mixure of both..I just kind of rotate until its dry. I just started this about 2 weeks ago and my results turn out softer than before.

I used to blow dry on cool all the time. My hair would come out very soft, and fluffy. Airdyring just takes too long and I don't like going to bed with a wet head. Now I blow dry my hair on warm. I keep the dryer at least 4 to 6 inches away from hair. There is no direct contact with from the dryer to my hair. My hair drys fast, feels soft, and moisturized. My hair is never hot or dried out either. I have not noticed any ill effects on my hair. I blow dry with each wash too and will continue to do so. I have been doing this for months, and I am having no problems retaining length.

Bump...I am tired of wigs as a P.S. and want to try this weekly. Cool air with the tension method. I can't see how it can cause damage but want to hear more.

I can't see how a cool blow dry and the tension method can be damaging either. I blowdry bi-monthly on a meduim to high setting using my tension method and have never had any adverse affects to my hair; and it has never stopped me from retaining my length. So you should be fine.
