I don't know how and I'm having the hardest time learning. I've learned how to do things much more complicated so I'm a bit pissed that I can't figure this out :lachen:

:wallbash::wallbash:

My Colombian friend begged me to learn so I could do her hair. It took me a long time to get my fingers to do them, because I'm so used to cornrowing which is the opposite direction. I was on YouTube for months and constantly gave up trying lol I finally learned though and now I love doing them in my own hair.

no...and it sux. I really shed a tear when i want to do a braidout and can't do it the "french braid...or cornrow style". it sux

i just don't know why i can't get it

I can do an outward french braid but not the real inward french braid (does that make sense).

Basically, my french braid looks like a big fat cornrow.

Nope! It hurts my heart too LOL! I would love to wear 2 french braids as a protective style :(.

Sleek: When you had the braided hairstyle in your siggie (which I coveted) you didn't do it yourself? Seeing that siggie made me practice, to no avail, my braiding skills :'(.

I know! I'm right there with you OP. My brain's like, "Nope, sorry. We're not doing that."

Not good enough to wear out in public, but good enough to wear under my half wig. I can braid other people's hair though.

I did. I just cornrowed it :look:

Man I'm so confused :lachen:

In high school, my dance team would wear french braids on game days so we all had the same hairstyle. I got sick and tired of bothering my mom to do it so I started doing them myself. I was horrible at first but forced myself to get better bc no way was I going to school looking a HAM.

Anyway, I still want to learn how to braid where the french braid sits on top of the hair...

oh doom. i thought cornrowing and french braiding were essentially the same thing
i guess i can do neither

I learned to french braid when I was a pre-teen since my older sister never liked to cornrow my hair for me. That's about all I can do. I can't cornrow or braid to save my life. :nono:

I can but it takes forever for me to get it done. Mine always seem to curve a lil bit so I have to go slow to get it straight. I can also cornrow but that too takes some time.

I used to French braid my hair every night before going to bed as a girl, but I haven't tried it in years

Yes, I can french braid my own hair. My grandmother taught me when I was a little girl. I use to practice on my doll. Now I can't cornrow to save my life. It's like my brain can't switch up.

no :(

and I didn't know it was different from cornrowing

all you women that know how need teach us please

I can't. I can cornrow my own hair and others. But I cant french braid to save my life. I've been practicing on my poor daughter.

For those that are confused, here's some pics:

I think that's right.

I can plait, cornrow twist and pretty much everything else, but the inwards french braid is the only thing that I truly suck at. Like others I can only do the outward french braid and I really don't care for the way that looks. :nono:

I'm going to start practicing it though because it is a beautiful protective style if you tuck the ends under.

I can't and it is pissing me off. Especially since I practice everyday and it looks horrible.:nono: Cornrowing is another thing. I will learn!
