Lent is a period of 40 days until Easter. Many people on Lent/Ash Wednesday make sacrifices up until Easter. I thought it would be absolutely appropriate to have everyone tell what sacrifices they will be making during these 40 days on behalf of their hair.

I will NOT be using direct HEAT at all for these 40 days. This is a huge deal for me, because I wear a weave (with the crown left out) and I have been so into getting my edges and crown straight, that now, my edges are thin as heck, and my crown is not nearly as thick and long as the hair I keep protected. For example, the rest of my hair is about 2inches from APL while my crown doesn't even touch my cheeks.

Fun! I'm not Catholic but this is definitely cool. Hmm I'm gonna have to think hard about this and get back to you! :giggle:

Me too^^^. But i think it'll be heat..since i'm already trying to find reasons to keep restricting myself from it.

I'm not Catholic either (I am Christian tho) but I do know its a big tradition. So I thought it would be an interesting LHCF hair spin.

I fast throughout Lent but I may just give up buying any new hair products.
I can only make new mixes of what I already have, instead.
Shea butter mix, conditioner and EVOO mix. DC mixes.
40 days of fun, frugal ways. :)

The Lenten season is not only celebrated by Catholics.

I will increase my deep conditioning to 3x per week, which is a sacrifice of time and laziness. I will also not flat iron my hair during Lent. WOW! Did I just type that?? :spinning: :look:

Guess I'd better get this roller/ rod setting thing down soon!

Great idea, OP!

Definitely not buying any more hair products...I knew it was out of control when I moved home and saw what I had in my apartment and my mom's house put together...then last week we got back our belongings that had been in storage since our house fire last july, and with that came ANOTHER huge tub of hair stuff :perplexed :perplexed :perplexed

On top of that, I will also not be using direct heat. I haven't used any since November and my ultimate goal is to PS until my two-year curly/kinkyversary on June 13th, so making it to Lent without my Solia should be a breeze (especially since I am installing crochet braids later this evening and plan on keeping them in 4-6 weeks). I will more than likely have to blow dry my hair today in order to get it cornrowed by my cousin, so I will do it on medium.

Great idea for a "challenge"!

Well, I'm giving up internet shopping, which includes wigs. Apparently, I'm a glutton for punishment.

I was going to say I won't flat iron, but that's a cheap cop out because I don't really flat iron much anyway. I will say I will give up wearing my hair down and bun for 40 days straight through, which will be hard!
