Love it both curly and straight. Especially love the first pic of you with the red jacket

Love the layers in your hair. That haircut is really nice I like it and it looks good on you. Great progress.

Thanks! Me, too (layers)! When I was relaxed, I was all about growing the layers out. But now that I am natural, I like the shape and the fullness the layers give my hair.

The girl at Aveda did a GREAT job. She cut it wet. I was a little skeptical. I was like :nono: bc I wasn't sure she was ready to get all up in there. But she did and the truth is in the pudding bc even straightened, my hair has a really good shape. All I told her was that I wanted to keep my bangs and that I wanted a nice shape and for it to dry nice. It was definitely $60 well spent for me...

I hadn't straightened since my BC last July and I really just did it as a test to see how well she actually cut my hair:blush: (and to change it up for Valentine's for the DH...you know...gotta keep 'em guessin' :look:) :lachen:

She did an awesome job that was money well spent. I bet your hubby thought he had a new wife when he saw your hair straightened. Keepin 'em guessin keeps it interesting...:yep:

How often do you get a trim and shape at Aveda? How do you like their salon in general? I always wanted to go but I get put off by the price.

This was my first trim since I've been going. I got my grays colored + highlights 3 months ago and I went in for my gray re-touch+ cut this time. I will go back in 6 weeks to get my highlights touched up. I think I will go:

6 wks: highlights+ deep condition
6 wks: roots/gray coverage (+ cut if needed)
and keep alternating that pattern

So, I think I will get a trim maybe every 3 months or so. (I dunno, I might push it our to every other gray coverage, which would be closer to 6 months). I know 3-6 months is frequent by LHCF standards, but I really liked my ends after the trim and my hair just hung better (curly and straight). I think it will also depend on how much growth I get bc I am trying to grow it back out to BSL and don't want to hinder my progress too much.

I went to Aveda initially bc I need to cover my gray and their hair color was touted as less damaging/more natural than traditional color treatments. There is a salon 5 minutes from my house that I got to for my mani/pedi's and other spa treatments. I like their services and products, so I decided to give it a try. I asked 50-11 times though (over a year's time) if they had someone that could style AA hair bc I was scurred. :lachen: They kept assuring me my stylist could work with really curly hair. I was like "really, really curly frizzy coarse hair?..." and they kept assuring me yes. I talked to the stylist and she was really open to listening to me and not cutting, just trimming and shaping, so I took a chance. (I scheduled a consult before I booked my initial appt)

I'ma be honest...It could have just as easily turned into a horror story, i think, but it worked out good for me and she worked it out.:yep: I just tried to do everything I could up front to get as much info as I could before I let her chop my hair (including trying her for color service first - which i LOVED! - before I let her cut bc I needed to see how she would handle my hair).

I did learn that she does need to have my hair detangled (blown out would be even better) before I go in for services to see her. I will probably stretch into a wet bun and thick braid and let it dry that way for future services so she doesn't have to worry about trying to pick it out while dry to work with. (That irked me...):look:
