WOW! Your hair is just gorgeous! It's grown so much! I'm so inspired. I've just started doing twists, and I seriously doubt I'll have your length around 15 months post relaxer, but your hair has inspired me still. Great job!

I love it! I have to stay focused. Last relaxer was in September and I am trying to stay away from the relaxer.

I love the shape of your hair. Does this particular shape have a name? You've made great progress.

Thanks! I don't think so (shape-name)...I just told her I liked my bangs and that I wanted it to have a nice shape when it dried. She cut the layers and did the rest.

You and your hair are both gorgeous! Congratulations on your progress. What products did you use to enhance your curl pattern so beautifully?

THank you! Ok, so I don't have a truly natural uadulterated curl - I have to add a lot of products. My hair is way more frizz/puff than curl with a few coils on the very ends in select places. My hair doesn't clump naturally, so I have to use fairly heavy stuff. Products I used in the pics:

BC curly: I shingled with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding and sat under the dryer for about 30 min. Blew out the roots with a nozzle attachment. Full details in FOTKI http://public.fotki.com/FindingMe/2009/july-2009/curly-styles/1006304edit.html

Last week curly (after Aveda): Aveda BeCurly conditioner as a leave in/rinse + Aveda BeCurly cream on top. (honestly neither did much for my frizz/poof, so I went home 5 min later and added Afroveda Curl Define and KCCC on top of that) Full details on FOTKI http://public.fotki.com/FindingMe/2010/february-2011/hair-color-re-touch--cut/dsc00087cut.html

Gorgeous hair! You look very pretty with your curls.

Thanks! I actually prefer the curly hair. I straightened Friday and I'm washing it out tonight with a DC and twists:yep:

it looks amazing, FindingMe!
I agree with you, layers give natural hair more voom than to relaxed hair. i love my layers too! and for now i don't want to get rid of them lol.
Your hair looks so lush! are you APL? it certainly looks like if the hair were stick straight!
you've made excellent progress!

Layers for life!:lachen: C, I am a couple of inches short of APL. But, I am the length I had when I started my hair care journey with relaxed hair in Dec 2007, so I know it's just gonna get better from here...

Your hair looks incredible! :thud:

I'm glad you had a good experience with Aveda. They have them out here and I did the BC myself but I keep thinking I may need to reshape it soon...so that gives me another possibility.

I bet Hubby was ALL over you! :lachen:When I last straightened and my SO started running a fever (:giggle:) I asked him why and he said " Well, it's like your fro is normal hair now."

Keep doing what you're doin - I'm gonna start stalking your reggie!

Girl, it was that twisting for growth challenge you guys had that kept me in twists. My hair LOVES being twisted and then left alone (or let loose then left alone).

:giggle: on the men...they are so silly...he thinks he's with a new chick he hadn't seen straight hair in so long...:lachen:I'm tellin' you...i'ma invest in some wigs to keep it changin up...

:nono:I'm not going to be able to click the Thanks button this time because your hair is BEAUTIFUL, I'm jealous and too close to premature BC.

OK! Don't do the BC if you aren't ready. I should have waited about 3 more months before I did my BC, but I was antsy. The only cool thing that came out of it was that the only way I could put it up was twists and I found out my hair really liked them. Wait. Do it when you are ready and you'll be much happier with your hair and the change.

Thanks for sharing! (especially your products you use to define your curls; they look absolutely perfect!) I like it both straight AND curly.

Do you find that the colored parts of your hair are more "wavy" as opposed to "curly" and you have to add a tad bit more product on those sections?

Thanks!

BB

Beautiful you and beautiful hair!!! Keep the bangs they look great on you (and this is from someone who doesn't even like bangs).

Hi, BB! Yep! :yep: I do think the highlighted sections are a slightly little looser coil than the rest. So, the highlights definitely did loosen my curl pattern there (more wave vs curl). It wasn't a lot, though, and I was surprised bc I thought it was going to be really noticible bc my hair is so coarse. I actually find, though, that those sections actually require less product to behave and clump than the rest of my hair. (more like my hair behaves when chemically processed/texlaxed)

I was also really worried that the highlighted sections would dry my hair out more and I have been watching like a hawk and comparing for the last 3 months. Right now, I can't tell a difference in the moisture retention between that and the sections that have color deposit to cover the gray other than the slightly looser coil. So, I guess right now that's a good thing, but I am going to keep watching...:yep:

I think I just like Aveda color. I've had color before and this one is by far the most gentle/non-stripping on my hair.

Beautiful you and beautiful hair!!! Keep the bangs they look great on you (and this is from someone who doesn't even like bangs).

Thanks! I love the aspect of having a defined "style" even with the natural hair. (OT-your siggy: CBR is also my current hair inspiration! when i get her length, i am gonna be a ****...:lachen:I don't think even my friends are gonna like me )

Do it! I really like the Aveda color. It's very easy on my hair.
