*top five tips for growing healthy hair*

No..you aren't in the twilight zone. I wanted to change the mood of this thread..and be more positive! So I would like for you all to give your top five tips for growing beautiful hair. It could be products, technique that you practice that showed results..

I think that most are able to achieve longer lengths with proper hair care. There may be a slight percentage that due to medical conditions or whatever may not be able to achieve "long" hair but overall it's your general health, technique, maintanence and application that has you screwed in my opinion.

Ummm....

I can't speak for everyone, but I know that I will meet my goal of having healthly hair and it is possible.

i'm not trying to start any drama..it's just a question. I was hoping maybe an expert can answer my question. Someone who knows a lot about hair growth. Is it genes or proper hair care..or both that retards hair growth or contributes to hair growth.

Well of course it is both. I think i said that in my answer....

no, it's not possible. stop stressing about your hair. put it under a weave or a wig or something and let it be. everyone may not be wl but i believe almost everyone can be bsl

you are what you believe you are and you become the very thoughts you believe imagine your self to be. Anything is possible if you have faith. Increase your faith in your self first and all else will follow.
Good luck

This makes me sad. I think everyone can have long hair, and like someone else said at least bsl. Don't give up. I've seen to many success stories on this board to believe otherwise.

Actually..i will take any answer that makes sense. It could be a mind thing as well.

It is a mind thing. Stop thinking and focusing on the negative in life. Think of the good things. At least you have hair. Do other things for hair growth and overall wellness. Work out, eat more veggies, drink only water and non sugar beverages. Work on it from the inside and it will become apparent on the outside.
Promise :bighug:

Thanks for the responses. I was just looking for an explanation of why some ppl had long hair and some don't. I've known girls who had long hair all their lives..and i didn't know if it was because their guardians had better hair care practices, was it their diet or genes. It's just something that I always found very frustrating. I wanted to know if it was something i could possibly change (my diet and hair care) or something predetermined like genetics. I guess I will just try a little hard..and imagine myself with rapunzel hair..and not feel like i'm fighting a hopeless battle.:look:

does this retard hair growth? If so..i had no clue:ohwell:

I'm no expert...but...

OP...it will be ok. sometimes it seems your efforts are worthless and its ok to get discourage regardless what the task at hand maybe...just as long as you don't have too long of a pity party but WE ALL HAVE THEM!!!! so you don't need a beating or a lashing :nono:

hair care is not the only thing that makes our hair grow...i will admit it plays a big part but its not 100% guaranteed! we are different individuals so our hair/bodies/etc. act differently to different things! i look at mixed women or women with a good/decent/better grades of hair....guess what 9 times out of 10 she's going to reach her hair goal before me....but that's ok. it is what you make it.

its ok to fall...just don't lay down....dust yourself off and keep it movin'!!!!! you'll be fine!

^Remember this thread? Of course technique and genetics play a role but I seriously doubt anyone has genes that result in every hair strand on their head to grow only 3 inches and fall out. I've personally seen people with short/damaged tresses grow their hair to APL, BSL and beyond.

Don't be discouraged! Find inspiration in the board and be patient. There is nothing that will make hair grow from NL to WL but time.

Do you work out? Drink protein shakes? Detoxed? I drink whey protein, wheat germ and omega 369 oils. I do this because I work out hard 4x a week. I notice the shakes have increased my growth with out my intentions. Take vitamins and drink at least 64oz of water a day. Challenge your self to a better you focus on making your self better over all. Some people grow hair faster than others yes that is genetic but there maybe something stunting your hair growth on the inside and in your mind. Sometime we are our worst enemies battling negativity on the inside. Yes think of your RAPUNZEL hair!!! U can have it.

hair grows .5 to 1 inch each month, if you eat right and and take care of ur hair from the inside out and retain length you can at least reach bsl

I think ALL people can have long hair. Everyone's hair is growing, as long as you are alive your hair will grow. UNLESS you have some underlying medical condition.
I have been frustrated too and thought that my hair didn't grow, but it does. Maybe not as fast as I would like but it grows.
I think it is important to not compare your hair to anyone else's because it only causes frustration. For the longest i couldn't understand why my hair didn't grow as long as >insert members name<. I have followed her Fotki and I assumed that since we have the same growth rate .5" a month, I would be making the same goals at the same time as her.
Well, come to find out that she is 5'2" and I am 6' tall, there is an obvious gap there, nearly a foot long gap. You can't compare your head of hair to others' head of hair because we are all different.

Find your own regimen by maybe adopting one from a member who has the same texture hair as you and tweak it to fit your own hair, be patient. Most regimens were not built in one day.

Patience is definitely the key and we all get frustrated but you have to keep pressing on, some of the hip length ladies here have been growing their hair for years and years. Don't expect yours to sprout out in no time; it's not realistic.

Natural sugar in moderation is ok but what is being sold on the shelf is high fructose corn syrup as the #1 or 2 ingredient. Forget the laurel sulfate in shampoo this syrup amongst other unhealthy things are ingested all day and we expect overall healthy skin, hair etc...drinking more water opposed to sugar drinks will flush toxins and keep your body

I personally believe that everyone can have long hair. Hair is always growing, if our hair didn't grow there would be no need for touchups. It's all about retaining the hair that you do have.

I believe anyone can have long hair but some may never get to wl or hl. Retention is an issue but if you constantly looking at your hair, then in your eyes it will never grow.
