My Mall Experience.....

I went to the Apple Store at the mall last evening and after my appointment with Apple, I left and passed by a kiosk that was selling flat irons. You know how they stop you (annoying....) and try to get you to by try their product, well this girl was about to ask me but then hesitated. Here is how it went:

Her: "Hi how are you?"

Me: "I'm well, thank you"

Her: "I was going to ask you to try my flat iron, but I see that your hair looks really nice. What flatiron do you use?"

Me: "I use the Maxiglide without the teeth..I don't mind the teeth, but I now prefer the flat plates"

Her: "Oh, you mean the flatiron that's wider than this (and then she shows me her flatiron, which was about an inch wide)that they show commercials for? And you can make flips with it?"

Me: "Yes, that's the one and it's about 2 1/2 inches or so wide"

Her: "Wow...and it got your long hair that straight?" "You are a natural right?"

Me: "Yes it sure did and yes I'm completely natural"

Her: Well, looking at how beautiful your hair is, I won't even ask you to try mine....it won't get your hair that straight."

Me:"...really?"

Her: "....I'm serious."

Me: "Ok....take care"

Her: "Whatever you are doing to your hair, keep doing it...its beautiful"

I thought that was such a cute exchange, especially the part about my hair being long . Usually I don't stop and talk to them at all, but she was nice with her approach and not so 'needy' for me to purchase her product like some of them do. They chase me down sometimes and I have to get ignant with them to leave me alone

Yes, girl....I like using it with the teeth, but the flat plates are so darn awesome, that I don't need the teeth at all.

Me too....she stared alot at my hair as she was talking to me. I just thought it was funny that she knew I was a natural and she looked to be from India.

I do a spiral set, and maybe they don't think it looks that good, because they are determined to have me walk around with a strip of straight hair in the midst of my curls. she could have meant natural as in without weaves.. Alot of people call that natural. but idk.

That's true too...I didn't think of that.

She was so honest and that was thumbs up for me. Those others that try to maul you down to use their products, sometimes I want to get into a karate stance and go "hy-yah" and scare them away.....
