So today I visited a natural stylist in my area. I didn't go with a list of do/don't to my hair. I justed wanted to sit back and let her do her thing. Her wash/condish/detangle process wasn't like mine, her twisting technique definitely wasn't like mine, but in the end, I was happy with the results. I spent 4.5hrs in her chair and this is the result.

The JOYS of Shrinkage!!!

This is suppose to least me at least 3-4wks..We'll see :)

oh my goodness it looks soooo lovely and healthy and shiny and bouncy and Gooodgoooggamoooggaa look at that mega shrinkage!!!! I love your hair, always have.

Looks pretty! 4.5 hrs is a long time to be sitting in someone's chair! But it came out so pretty! How much did she charge you?

That is my basic hairstyle now. I love it. And the shrinkage looks like mine. It is the food of champions ain't it.

What did she charge you for this? Oh I wish I could find someone to do mine. I could just sit back and let them go to it. :yep:

Woaaaah! Those are beautimous! :lick:

Where do you live? I want to go to your girl!

I live in Cincinnati.

Tell me about it. I'm all about 1hr or less to do my hair. But I was so excited about finding someone to do my hair that I didn't even care. However, I don't know how come women can do this every 1-2wks. She charged me $65.

I went to a party and my girlfriend's cousin was there. She was also natural and I loved how her twist looked, so I naturally asked who did her hair. She was QUICK to tell me about her stylist. So last week, I paid the stylist a visit for a consultation and booked an appointment for today. She charges $65.

I love it! How long will you wear this style?

Thanks...It's suppose to last 3-4wks, but we'll see. But I plan to at least make it to 2 1/2wks.

Thanks everyone for the kind words :)

How was her technique different from yours op? Was she gentle?

It looks pretty!!!!

Her twist look like twisted coils. She separated the hair in 2, then did a twirling motion. I kept trying to see what she was doing with her hands, but she was moving them so fast. But they look NOTHING like my twist.

She ask clients to come with their hair untwisted. She then hand detangles. After she takes you to the sink and shampoos your hair 3x. I RARELY use shampoo, so this was something new for my hair. After the 3rd rinse, she applied a blend of 8 natural oils, then added a condish on top. Then she covered with 2 plastic caps and placed me under the dryer for 15min. She then rinsed out the condish and lightly blotted hair. Then she clipped off my hair, took a rattail comb and parted my hair in the back. She then added a setting mousse and combed it through. Once combed through, she twisted. This was also something different b/c I RARELY use a comb on my hair. I think she could tell by my eyes and questions that I was concerned that she was pulling out my hair, so she made sure to show me the comb. What's funny is, I noticed just as much shedded hair via her technique as I did with my hand detangling process. She detangled my hair this way t/o my twisting process. After she was done, she put me under the dryer for about 15min, so that my mousse would set. When done she sprayed my hair with a finishing spray. She recommended that I cover w/ a silk scarf and apply a moisturizing hair product as needed.

I would say that if you are tender headed, her technique isn't the most gentle. However, I'm not tender headed, so I was fine.

That looks really nice!

Hush up, DLewis, on the shrinkage assault. :p

I love, love shrinkage. It's like magic! I love when people have to do a double take coz "Didn't you just have short hair yesterday?" :giggle:

She did a great job, but she had a grea head of hair to work with.

My eyes fell out of my head when I saw your stretch picture
