MileHighDiva Is that a good or bad thing? I wash my hair with shampoo bars and I don't use conditioner or deep conditioner so I thought that I had to use the vinegar to close my hair cuticles since shampoo bars are alkaline (ph of 8-9). Should I try to dilute the mixture more or just switch to apple cider vinegar entirely?

^^I'll try to find the information on white vinegar. I'm trying to remember where I read about it in relation to hair, but I do recall that it's too acidic and there's something in the ACV that's beneficial to hair that white vinegar doesn't have.

Why aren't you using condish and DC's? What are your hair properties, so I don't go off the reservation?

When I had my Komaza hair analysis they recommended a monthly ACV rinse. They determined that I have normal to high porosity. Here is the recipe they provided:

I recommend doing apple cider vinegar rinses every two weeks or once a month to help with closing the cuticles. Use ¼ cup ACV to 1 cup water/aloe water. Wash hair with shampoo; rinse; apply the ACV rinse leave on for about 2-3 min then rinse.

I have not used this mixture yet. I have been using the pre-mix from Hairveda. However, I do plan on using the recipe provided by Komaza.

MileHighDiva I don't use store bought conditioners in the shower because they break my skin out. Just about every emulsifying agent, fatty alcohol and silicone breaks me out with acne or gives me a rash. For moisture, I will apply honey to freshly shampooed hair and leave it on for at least ten minutes using the steam from the shower. Then, I do a final rinse with the white vinegar. When my hair needs protein, I will add an egg to my oil pre poo 20 minutes before I wash my hair.

I pretty much only use homemade or natural things in my hair and on my skin. Even regular soap is a mono for me. I have to use shampoo/body bars to bathe with as well. For reference , I believe my hair to be 3c/4a and have baby fine strands with high density that love protein. My hair gets build up quite quickly and I have an extremely oily scalp. I'm not sure how to insert any pictures yet but my hair is 85% natural and shoulder/collar bone length. Thanks for your help.

narsinthemorning, white vinegar is more drying because it's more acidic than ACV. Plus, ACV has enzymes and minerals that have not been distilled out. I guess as long as you dilute it properly it should be alright. We just wouldn't want it to eat your hair. Have you tried rhassoul or benonite clay for your scalp/skin? Some say, you don't have to DC if you use a clay wash. Naptural85 has a recipe in one of her videos. I've never tried it. Sorry, your skin is causing you to miss out on DCing. I would die without DC.

Thank you so much for the info. Yes, when I first figured out or was my conditioners causing acne I was devastated. DeepConditioning used to be my favorite hair related activity! I was a product junkie! I have stuff that's never been opened that I paid good money for. I want to give them away but the thought of my money going down the drain.......:nono:

Ladies, I was in Wally World today. I noticed now that there's a Sprouts Natural Market closer to this particular location, now they are carrying Bragg's ACV. In addition, Bragg's must be cutting into Heinz bottom line, because now Heinz has a natural ACV with the "Mother" just like Bragg's. The Bragg's was $5.98 and the Heinz knock off is $3.98, both were 32 oz.

These big companies are not letting the lil' guy get in anywhere.

@MileHighDiva

Yes Ma'am. I bought it a while ago, but my local Walmart stores have been carrying it for months. At one point they were carrying the bragg's brand, but I think they've replaced it with the Heinz; either way I'm happy. I much prefer unfiltered ACV to filtered...no matter the brand.

Confession.....I use acv for everything but my hair. This past weekend I finally tried it for my last rinse. Omg I cant keep my h hands out of my hair. It is soooooo soft and silky.

Ok, I feel so much better now that I have tried it.

I adore my ACV rinses and credit them for keeping my high porous hair in check. I use mostly ACV..and maybe 1/4 water. I don't mix anything else in my ACV. I've been doing ACV rinses directly after all of my washes for 3 yrs now.
