Hey Y'all,

You guys know I have pusha's and most of them do ACV rinses. I've heard the benefits of them and even tried it, but never could get my perfect ratio (I used way to much ACV). Anywho, I wanted to know what you guy's perfect mixture is. Also, if you prefer already made mixes...which one and why?

Calling @IDareT'sHair, @Brownie518, @Beamodel, @Babygrowth, @Nonie, southerncitygirl, @MileHighDiva, @Nix08, @divachyk, and any other ACV specialists lol.

I just found my perfect mix TODAY, lol. I used 16oz water to 2 tsp (teaspoon) of ACV and it has left my hair so moist. I can hold all my yummy DC'ings sessions in my strands now. My hair took a whole to dry but that's because my cuticles were laid down (and that's what you want with an ACV rinse).

What brand of ACV would you recommend? Also, did you do it before or after dc'in?

I think it's Braggs ACV. I used it as a final rinse after my DC session. I did not rinse it out either. I applied my leave in right after I poured the rinse over my hair.

I like Hairveda's Phinishing Rinse. It's affordable. It's pre-mixed. Works great. Smells decent.

Claudie's is also nice, but you have to mix it.

I'd love to try Afroveda's $22.00 *too expensive*

Koils By Nature has one too that I've been wanting to try.

I use 2 capful of ACV in 16-20oz of water (Braggs) as a final rinse and my hair is instantly soft and smooth. Gotta get back on this as I haven't in a couple weeks.

There is always a debate: To Rinse OR Not to Rinse. That's why I follow the directions on the bottle.

There are several valid schools of thought on the Leave-In vs R/O.

Hi, I don't normally rinse with them but I do add them to my DC or I wash my scalp and hair with them before I do everything else. >.> The other day I put straight acv on my scalp, and needless to say... My eyes were burned, but it was worth it. x] My hair is overly porous.

My ratio is 1:2 or 1:3, but I prefer the stronger solution.

EnExitStageLeft, I've only done it once with 32 oz of filtered water and 2 caps of ACV from the kitchen (Heinz). I think next time I'm going to try 1 cap with 32 oz of water and see what happens. I'm going to buy some Braggs ACV the next time I'm at Sprouts Natural Market or Whole Paycheck,.

I was going to buy some of the HV ACV rinse IDareT'sHair recommends last night, but it was not part of the sale, so I'll try it next time.

You know that Nonie is the queen of ACV rinsing. I can't recall her ratio, but I think it's like a gallon of water w/ 1 cap of ACV. Don't quote me on her ratio/recipe.

Another thing I like about Hairveda's is that it is a Pointy-Tipped Bottle.

So you can hit all the spots by making parts.

I think AV's and KBN's is a Spritz. Shi-Naturals also has one that is a Spritz.

When I use my Claudie's I put it in an empty HV Bottle.

I do a tablespoon to a cup of water. Rinse, allow to sit 20 seconds, rinse.

I use it as a means to not only clarify, but help my deep conditioner absorb better.

EnExitStageLeft, Hairveda's ph balancing rinse is awesome. I have low porosity hair so I use it after shampooing to calm the cuticles. I rinse it out with warm water and proceed with my regi. I tried it as a final rinse but it was a no-go. I know my hair and ACV are not lovers so I don't use the balancing rinse often and I haven't been courageous enough (just yet) to try ACV without it being formulated in a product.

Just what I wanted to know. Thanks

For 2 years I used Hairveda's PH BALANCING RINSE but it kept going up in price. That was too much money for me to be pouring down the drain.

So this year I started using Nonie's formula. 1 part ACV, 128 parts water. (2 tablespoons or 1 ounce of ACV to water). I use cold water, too. Pour it over my head and towel dry. No rinsing out! This formula has been working wonderfully for me.

It is my final rinse after DC'ing or Co-washing.

What a waste of money for me to have used those pre-packaged rinses all those years when I could have gotten the same benefits mixing my own. (So simple)

Pompous Blue, thanks for sharing Nonie's formula. I use the Hairveda version due to convenience but at some point in the future I may begin to mix my own. However, for now and for my lifestyle the premixed version is my best choice. Thanks again!

I guess this depends on how acidic/basic one wants the product to be.

I personally do 1 tablespoon ACV in my 8oz rhassoul clay mixture, which results in a pH of 6. There isn't really a "correct" mixture, but I wouldn't exceed a pH of 7 or go below 3. In general I modify my products to be within a pH range of 4-6, if they aren't there already.

Rozlewis I thought it was convenient to use HV's product, but it was much simpler for me to apply Nonie's mixture and not have to rinse a 2nd time.

I use this thick, plastic gallon size jug. Love it!

Hairveda all the way! It smells yummy and does what it says. I have shampooed, acv rinsed, then DC and I have done it as a final rinse and my hair prefers the first way. My hair is always so soft, smooth, and shiny. I tried to make my mix and it was an epic fail so Hairveda is the only one I've tried and I will not try another.

@yaya24

Ms. Ya - This basically sounds like the exact information I was given about why it isn't a good idea to use FSP with every wash.:yep:

I will mention @Amarilles in the FSP thread so she can comment on that there in a more scientific manner. (If she would be ever so kind):huggle:

EnExitStageLeft, have you considered using leave ins with AVJ in the first 5-7 ingredients? That way your products do the work of smoothing your cuticles. You will not have to play mix-tress and add an additional step to your routine.

AVJ + Ceramides = Shiny Smooth Cuticles & Moisturized Hair :drunk:
