Your naked RELAXED hair...then and now....?

So do you think how your hair looks wet, without any product or even with product is a good gauge of hair health?

I've been looking at my hair wet lately and noticing how very different it looks now compared to back in the day. My hair is straight enough when dry BUT when my hair is wet it has a loose wet and wavy type pattern. At first this BOTHERED and ANNOYED me because I kept thinking my relaxer hadn't taken or that my hair was REVERTING! Not what I am used to as I am a 4b. I am used to my hair being stick straight and having no curl pattern, especially back in my No-Lye days. Also my hair used to feel so FRAGILE, like it would literally disintegrate in my hands if I even touched it too hard when wet. Now my wet hair feels strong, moisturized soft and not stripped, fragile or rough and is never stick straight but loose and wavy when wet. I'm not sure when to pinpoint the change and wasn't even sure I liked it at first because like I said I felt my relaxer was reverting!

I think the change came about when I switched to Lye and started using protein. And I must say, while I think switching back to Lye Relaxer played a part, I really think regular protein is the main factor at work here! Anyone noticed anything similar? How does your naked RELAXED hair look now compared to back in the day?

I've experienced the same thing. Ever since I began stretching relaxers, using a better quality lye relaxer, self-relaxing, and just generally taking better care of my hair, the texture of my wet hair has been different. It has a ton more texture, volume, and weight, but it isn't underprocessed. It isn't tangly, and it's strong.

I can hardly remember but I think my hair used to feel rougher? Ugh and I remember it just being so tangle prone. Now my hair is very smooth, soft, and straight when wet, the only "waves" I notice is the new growth.

This is what I plan to have my wet hair look like. My stylist just gave me a touch up and after about two washes, I can def see the texture in the roots.. overtime as my hair grows out I want my relaxed hair to still have some texture and more weight to it. When I went to the salon over the summer, I remember seeing a few relaxed heads whose hair when wet was not bone straight, but still had texture to it. When it was washed and blown out it looked beautiful.

I have experienced the same thing at 1st I was freaking out thinking I was going natural but I love my texture sometimes when I airdry my hair that's when some folks ask me if I'm natural especially when the NG start sprouting up also
switching to lye changed my hairs life, now when I relax Im not dreading the limp dead look instead my hair is so full.of life n with every slight move of my head is an excuse for my hair to Show off.

I experienced the same thinh once I switched to lye relaxers (but also I wasn't chelating which you are supposed to do with no lye relaxers to avoid mineral buildup). My hair was thin, didn't have volume and above all was very porous and dried very quickly ( I washed and by the time I was doing my rollers my hair would be dry already). It isn't bone straight anymore, it has texture and once dry it has volume, it's stronger and feels cool to the touch.

Before my journey I frequented the salon and my relaxed hair was quite healthy. I had a short bob and my hair was bone straight, but it maintained a bit of thickness. I will admit its nothing compared to what I have now, but still 'thick'. I will however admit that my naked hair is far more 'smooth' then my prior naked hair. However, I think this is due to my a combination of good hair practices, my usage of quality hair products and PH Balance.
