Your Hair Doesn't Look Relaxed

When my hair was relaxed I used to get that all the time. Now it's permed, I still get that, but as long as it healthy and thick, I don't mind.

So you have a curly perm?

So many people here say they are permed when they really mean relaxed.

I don't think my hair looks relaxed either. At least not bone straight like folks are used to seeing. When my hair was that straight, it was overprocessed. I'd rather have hair on my head than stick straight hair anyday.

I get this all the time too. Someone approached me just yesterday and said "your washed and pressed right?" and before I can answer started talking about how she does this too occassionally and thank God that we BOTH don't relax :) I smiled and kept going... my hair has never been straight..so I don't fight it anymore...I get it texlaxed every 4 months and let my hair do it's thang

Yelp i get it all the time! I even have to keep reminding my family members that I relax. But I totally understand why because I texlax and it is highly textured. I sometimes feel bad because I feel like I'm deceiving ppl! lol I love my hair though!

My hair is texlaxed and depending on how I airdry some people have mistaken it for my natural texture. As my hair gets longer bit by bit it looks more like I have streched curls rather than the random assortment of hair on my head.

I came in here all ready to commiserate with the OP only to discover I am the OP, LOL. Doofus.

YES!! some dumb butt man working at the carol's daughter counter at Macy's assumed i pressed my hair. i am relaxed bone straight, and was rocking an air dried ponytail at the time, so i had a bit of poof.

i asked to see a bottle of hair milk, to which he replied, "ma'am, this balm would work better for pressed hair like yours."

i told him, "i relax my hair."

he said, "no you don't!"

i walked away. he should know better than to make assumptions about people's hair. it's always safe to ask.

though i'm quite flattered he assumed i was natural!

The last time got my hair relaxed, some woman made a comment about my hair. The shampoo girl washed the conditioner out of my hair then blow dried, and this woman says "oh you did such a nice job blow drying her hair! it looks like she has a relaxer!" So i kindly told the woman that i do have relaxer, and that i just had my touch up. :-)
My hair is fully processed, but i still retain curl when wet ( i have 4b hair, but with a relaxer its about 3c). I enjoy having curl even though my hair is relaxed! I get the best of both worlds! (as long as my curls feel like behaving)

I've gotten this before (though I don't know how...my hair is relaxed pretty straight :look:). I think it's some people's way of saying that your hair looks healthy. One person even called my hair "natural". I laughed and said my hair was anything but, and she told me that she didn't mean unrelaxed, she meant that it was my "real" hair (as in no weave). But, in your case, let's just assume the person meant that you look like you have unrelaxed hair. If that's how your hair looks like in your siggie pic on a day to day basis, then I'd probably think you were a natural, too. But I think the lady meant it as a compliment, because your hair is pretty.
