My 18 year old sister's hair:
-Shoulder length, very thick, type 3b, dark brown, relatively healthy, relaxed...rarely combs it...usually wears it in a bun/rollerset...goes to salon every now and then.

My 12 year old sister's hair:
-Shoulder length, medium thickness, type 4a/4b, dark/medium brown, relatively healthy except the ends get out of hand sometimes, relaxed...does whatever to her hair...goes to the salon every now and then.

My mother's hair:
-Ear length with sides and back tapered, on the thin side, type 4a/4b, black/very dark brown, healthy, relaxed...uses a curling iron every single morning.

My hair:
-Past bra-strap, blackest black, type 4a/4b, medium thickness, healthy, relaxed, air dries, no heat at all, no salons.

I'm an only child; I'll speak of my mom & daughter's hair...

Me... natural....curly, frizzy, wavy, poofy, healthy 3c'ish hair. Loose curls in front, tighter spirals under the crown. My shortest section is about 1" from shoulder length (stretched) due to an unfortunate uneven cut :(

Daughter.... natural...wavy, curly, poofy, healthy 3b'ish hair. Tighter curls on hairline, loose curls thoughout. Long & thick. It's at her bottom stretched!

Mother.... relaxed... shiny, healthy 3b'ish hair. My mom has PERFECT silky curls (tried to get her to go natural after not relaxing for 6 mths, but she LUVS her relaxer). She's about armpit length & thick.

My mom: baby fine about a 2a stick straight (no, she is not mixed with white), she now has thinning issues...her solution to wear a wig 24-7. Believe me I worked on that. I was the first one to cut her hair off for her in ages and ages, from bra strap length to shoulders. (at her pressuring request) She then had another sibling chop it to about 2inches in length. She has it at shoulders again. Still has thinning issues but she has ditched the wigs!!!! Her hair is absolutely 100 % snow white in color. Hair has never been colored. Originally off black in color.

My sister: super thick all her life. Slight loose wave. She has worn it at all lengths from below waist to above the ears, which is where she keeps it for the last several years. It has the most beautiful natural waves and is heavily streaked with gray and her original very dark hair has gone jet black. People would pay a lot of money to get streaked hair like hers. She has never colored her hair. Originally black-chesnut in color.

Me: Was baby fine all my life and now as a result of better care and protein and sulphur it is getting thicker stranded and stronger. First time I set any hair goals to grow my hair was in 1999. Usually when healthy, below shoulders was the longest. I have colored many times and hennaed, chopped to fingernail length, wore it in multi layers, burned the mess out of it with curling irons, bleached streaks in it,...I was a bad bad girl, but had no problems with it till I became I became very ill. It was devastating to my hair. Since recovery that I am just beginning to see at last very healthy hair...it is a 3b in most parts, a 2c in parts of the bangs, a 3c in some parts of the crown. It is crinkly wavy unbrushed, and straight when brushed, but let any moisture even look at it, in runs back up my frame to shoulder length. and now I am getting gray streaks as well, but I ain't having that yet (lol)....now it is black...and is growing past my regular bra strap at the back, past arm pit length on the sides, and past shoulder length for bangs...stretched of course, because it has shrinkage issues. They say I got my grandmamma's hair, which was very fine and crinkly wavy and had the same shrinkage issues. The family tells me that when I wear my hair in two braids on the side, I am a dead ringer for grandmamma and my mom. Bonour.

I have very soft and fine 4a hair with no defined curl or coil pattern. My mom has medium fine baby soft 3b/4a hair. She's currently wearing a curly perm but she was natural for most of my life. Even with chemical, she only gets touch-ups about every 6 months and her hair looks fine. As far as length, she's always kept her hair cut in a style, even as a teen. Her mom had fine 2a hair that was very long as a young adult, unfortunately, she kept those "long hair genes" to herself.

honeisos..who is a member and also my sister..i suppose her hair is type 3c i believe..
another sister is who is the only relaxed head in the family..i have no idea what her natural hair type is b/c it is relaxed...my youngest sister is 3a ...
me..i have type 3b-4a...my hair is just crazy with textures...kinks coils and curls..i like it alot..it is such a new adventure for me...

ITA ;) Our sister who is relaxed... her hair is fine and very wavy 3b?, in it's natural state

Mother: Natural 4A hair. Her hair has really grown since she stopped relaxing a few years ago. It's so much more healthier.

Me: Almost 95% natural wavy, curly, frizzy, soft hair. The curls/waves are looser in the front. The back is more corkscrewy(is that a word?).

Dad: Wavy.

My mother's hair type is 3b/3c (wavy in the front and sides and loose curls in the middle and nape) and very fine...she uses wave nouveau(curly perm) every 6 or 7 months or whenever she remembers:nono:...my mother isn't the type of lady who is into healthy hair care (old-fashioned:wallbash: )...her hair seems to grow really fast since using the wave nouveau but it isn't at all healthy.

My hair type is 3c/4a (wavy in the front, some loose and tight curls in the middle and tight curls at the nape and side area) and thick...I relax my hair every 13 weeks...and i'm all about healthy hair care..my hair grows pretty fast, but faster according to the season.

My mom has a nice texture of hair (very fine) but it's about 2 or 3 different textures. For the most part her roots are very soft and wavy. Her hair never did hold a relaxer well. She sweats in her head profusely and it would make hair curl up. She's growing out all her relaxed/telaxed hair down.

My sister still relaxes her hair but hers is sooo thick and course. Her hair sucks up moisture. Right now it's breaking badly because of how she treats it but I've never seen hair that can bounce back so fast from extreme damage. It could be long if she took the time.

My hair is fine, almost bra strap. My newgrowth always grows in very course but the rest of it always stays super straight.

All my aunts and my mother had long hair to their backs when they were younger. Hopefully my sister and I can have that too.

My Mom's hair is fine and long, she always had short hair until I started to grow my hair out then everyone I know started to grown their hair out. My daughted hair is fine and very long, my half-sisters hair is thick and very staight and silky with a slight curl pattern, it chin length. My hair is thick, curly and a little long.

My mom is white and she has long, silver grey waist length type 1 hair.

My sisters and I all have hair somewhere between 2C and 3B.

Two of my sons have curly blond hair. The other two have straight, shiny brown hair. The two blondies have hair lighter than my husbands. Where did I get these babies!:lachen:

Growing up my mother really didn't know how to care for our hair. She always wore her own hair in a single long braid down her back. I remember being a little girl and wishing sooooo hard for hair like my mom's. I hated my own hair, really hated it. :( I used to wish I could grow up and find some magical potion that would make my hair shiny and straight. I was so jealous of the straight haired little girls at school who could wear their hair loose and in all different styles. I had the same greasy, poofy braid everyday.

Oh and my mom had tailbone length hair till her mid 20`s so I hope she passed some of her growth genes on to me:lol:

Camillia, this sounds exactly like my daughter's complaints. She has a hair type very similar to yours ( from looking at your pics I've concluded this) and she always complainsthat she wants straight swingy, free flowing hair like the girls at school. I take care of her hair, but mainly for school it is in one or two long braids with a halo of "angel fluff" by the time she gets home!

NOW--the original ?
My mother's hair has grown in recent months, for some reason. She is going fatihfully to her stylist, but she is not really into hair care like I am.
She has kinky, dry, and very cottony/thin 4 hair that when freshly relaxed is soft, but will not hold a style well.

My sis's hair is curly type 2-3 and similar to my daughter's, except IMO thinner. Naturally, it frizzes and tangles alot. She texturizes it and mostly wears it curly. When it is pressed out, it is between midback and waist.

My hair is somewhere between my mom and my sis's. It is not as kinky/nappy as my mom's (meaning the naps are bigger) and it is softer than my mom's. I have not been natural for most of my life, so I don't remember a head full of natural hair. My hair is not wavy or silky like my sis or daughter's. It is kind of thin, but not too thin. It is delicate like my mom and sis and prone to breakage! I don't like to type my hair but it is mostly a mix of 4a and 3c.

My mother and my sisters have lovely hair, took after my dad's side of the fam, which is not a bad thing but it takes me a lil longer to get my hair where it needs to be than it takes them.

It seems my mom and sister both had very longer thick lusious hair. My moms hair when she was my age was to DIE for, but as she got older it has started to thin out. My sister hair was like my moms too most of her life until recent years. She keep it cut short for so long I think hair hair just said forget trying to grow anymore. Me on the other hand, I took after my dad, he had hair problems all his life like me. He told me stories about all the stuff he used to put in his hair back in the day to get his afro thick. He envied my moms big ole Angela Davis fro. I hate my hair took after his:(

My mom has 2a hair, looks like I got most of my texture from my dad (he's a 4b) I'm 4a mostly.
No sisters but my brothers have 3c hair. One thing we have in common is we don't have much of a curl pattern though.

I believe my mother had type 3c or 3b hair and her hair was fine and curly. My father I think is a type 2 his hair is fine and wavy. He might also have some type 3 to cause he does have some curls.
