Your favorite ingredients and what they do for your hair

Apple Cider Vinegar...cleanses the scalp.

It's (50% vinegar/50% water) soaking on my scalp right now. I'll give it another 15 minutes then I'm off to washing/detangling for the next 2 hours.

Protein. Protein protein protein. Any and all protein. DCing without protein at any stage is pointless. I have never had protein overload. Protein makes my hair feel softer. J'adore le protein

Nice Thread (In no particular order):nicethread:

Nettle
Burdock Root
Saw Palmetto
Blue Malva
Roobis
Marshmallow Root
Moringa

MileHighDiva, Infusium23 is a protein and I dont really use it, since I have fine hair I have to be careful with protein.

Another ingredient that I like for controling shedding is Rooibos tea. It is wonderful as is Nettle tea.

When I think of Panthenol, I immediately think Pantene, Infusium 23, and S-Curl.

Agave nectar - soft hair

Apple cider vinegar - shiny hair

Nettle - stops dry and itchy scalp.... don't know what was going on but I saved a ton of money not having to go to the dermatologist to figure it out

Baking soda - cleans/strips my hair, depending on how concentrated I make it

List yours

Ohhhh!!!! CodeRed, please tell me more about how you use Nettle (in what form?) for your itchy scalp. Thanks!!!

I just steep a bag in 8 oz of rose water with a bag of oolong and it helped a lot. I used to use it with burdock root too, which I might start doing again... I used to just dump it over my head but I felt like I was wasting a lot so I put it in a spray bottle and spray my hair on every wash day before my leave in/blow dry. I also spray it on before I put a deep conditioner on and sit under the dryer for a bout 20 minutes.

Oils: Olive, Castor, Avocado, Coconut
All penetrate the hair shaft, make my hair super soft

Aloe Vera Juice, Apple Cider Vinegar
Restores my hair's PH, makes my hair soft, shiny, and my curls pop

Other ingredients my hair loves (already mentioned several times here)
Marshmallow Root
Panthenol
BTMS
Humectants. (In the fall and winter though)
Aloe Vera gel, powder
Hibiscus (helps with shedding, strengthens hair, slows graying)
Broccoli seed oil (my new love)
Argan Oil (amazing)
Ayurvedic herbs (strengthening)
And good ole water!

I thought I was the only protein junkie. LOL

Well, apparently my hair likes olive squalane but that is really expensive...off to find a cheaper way to incorporate it....

EVOO - makes my hair very soft and silky.

AVG - slicks down my hair and pH balance my hair products

I will limit to these 2 ingredients because not only do the products I use contain them...I use them on wet and dry hair almost each day. My hair absorbs these ingredients and it improves the condition of my hair.

Onions - healing for the scalp, removes dandruff, conditions hair and exfoliates follicles
Peppers - increase circulation and provides a nice warming massage
Catnip - Hydrates hair and reduces splits
Henna - Color, shine, strengthen, reduces SSK's
Hemp Seed oil - Cerimide, strength, detangles
Emu - nourishing lightweight
Sunflower oil - cerimide that strengthens without weighting down
Chlorella - vitamin, body, face, hair, protein
Neem- Healing oil, powder conditions
Coconut - reinforces hair, prevents hydra fatigue
Castor oil - healing oil

Grapeseed Oil- Leaves my hair silky and EXTREMELY shiny!

I can't remember if I already quoted this in this thread (too lazy to go look lol) but I started using Grapeseed oil and I'm so mad at myself for sleeping on this stuff... from now on it will stay in my house for both my skin and hair... possibly cooking too.

Coconut anything (oil, milk, water) - strong, soft, moisturized hair

Castor oil - best sealant, keeps SSKs away

Aloe vera anything (gel, juice) - hydrated shiny hair, lays my cuticles flat
