I just bought some Gorilla Snot last week. I might be crazy or just didn't use enough because I'm not getting those slick edges YouTube promised.

I bought some cream of nature edge control a couple months ago. So far so good.

Punk @SuchaLady -- the yellow one

@divachyk Mine is some Spanish word I think  but it says extra strong. I'm certain I don't like it all that much :ohwell: I wish my hair would behave and just be receptive to my old products  but I'm going to try some other gels. They're my fave product :look: I'll let you know what works.

I have a problem with many of them that I do try looking as if they turn my edges by mid day white looking. I think I just picked up some by Olive Oil from Walmart and I don't get the white filmy look on my hair.

The only other one that didn't do this was one by Carols Daughter. I loved that one.

I use the Hick's Edges when wearing LF wigs. I always place the wig a little bit behind my edges.

I use the Evostyler mixed with some SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie when I want to slick the majority of my hair. Im texturized but at 9 weeks postmy hair is moisturized, flat but with nice waves.

I like Hick's edge control. But if I really want to lay them down for a bun or ponytail, I'll spray water on my edges first, next put Eco styler gel on then tie with a scarf while I'm in the shower. Next take off the scarf then add the Hick's to the baby hairs, works like a charm.

Does anyone use the ORS smooth n hold pudding. When I was relaxed that was my one and only. I may give it a try on my natural hair since my edges are in a delicate state now.

I use the ORS Smooth N Hold but not for my edges. I use it to set my twist outs on my natural hair. I like it because it's not super hard. I haven't tried to use it for my edges, because I just have the feeling that it might not hold them down! But I may try it later. But if you looking for something to make a twistout last without making your hair hard, this is a good product.

Can we revisit this conversation with an emphasis on what works for straightened natural hair in hot humid weather. None of my go to's work anymore( hicks, design essentials, Cream of Nature) Any more recommendation? Or do I just have to have fuzzy/curly edges.

I used castor oil and scarf. Sometimes I will use a waterless pomade like karen's body beautiful beauty boss.

Thanks. The castor oil actually does work for me in the fall in winter. But in hot weather, it's a no go. My edges will almost instantly revert. Unless I'm spending a limited amount of time outside.

Gorilla snot in the yellow packaging.

Damn, I just can't put something on my hair named snot! It makes me feel some kind of way..lol

This thread popped up at just the right time. I've been using ORS edge control to slick my edges down but after about an hour it loses hold no matter what I do. On Thursday I washed my hair and applied it and it gave me a nice, smooth hold and I thought I had finally gotten it to work for me but the next day it was a no go. Could part of the reason be due to product build up? Even if I wet my hair and apply it, it still won't hold.

I think I am going to try Hicks or Ecostyler and see if those are a better hold.

ETA - I've been on the board for 10 years but I just recently went natural in the past year, so I'm new to all of this.

I've also been using Gorilla Snot Gel and Design Essentials Maximum strength edge control. I want to try The Mane Choice edge control since it claims to also stimulate hair growth

Granted, I don't really like to slick my edges down bc nothing really keeps them down for longer than like 2 hours but those two aforementioned products have worked better than anything else I've used

I love the Jireh Edge Control that I ordered from online. Ordered one and they sent me 3!

I've tried quite a few, but I like Creme of Nature Argan Oil Perfect Edges

th

I like it because it's not white so it doesn't turn white even if I use a lot.

Have you guys tried the Mielle edge control? Also, EcoStyler has an edge control now too.

Okay of the edge controls mentioned above which is not a waxy consistency...are there any that are a creamier, maybe even moisturizing, consistency?

Murray's Edgewax might fit the bill
