African Pride Silky Edges Anti-Frizz Conditioning Gel

I was SO blown away by this product that I wrote a review on makeupalley about a year ago, it was the first HG product that I ever found:

I've tried a few edge control products over the last couple of years since transitioning from relaxed to natural and this is my hands-down favourite. It glides on smoothly, even w/o having to wet my edges first. It leaves my baby hairs really silky looking and shiny, and I only have to use the tiniest bit unlike any of the other products I tried before. Another plus is that it doesn't dry out when you leave the lid off, unlike ALL the others do, and it comes in a nice big jar, should last at least a year with daily use. Looks like solid orange jelly but washes off cleanly with just water. 4/5 marks bc it doesn't last quite all day, however my edges still remain mostly slicked. Would recommend and rebuy, happy to have found my holy grail!

ETA: This product leaves the hair a bit too shiny-looking for me personally bc my own hair is naturally dull. I've used other E.C. products that dont leave such a hi-shine BUT their performance was otherwise poor.

Oh man. So I picked up some Gorilla Snot from CVS to give a try and that mess works soooooooo much better than Hicks and Eco Styler for me. I picked up both of the other products after reading this thread and neither of them did anything to lay my edges down for more than a couple of minutes, even after applying a scarf to help. I took a teeny, tiny amount of the Gorilla Snot to try out and it's done wonders so far. My edges aren't budging one bit. I'm definitely taking the Hicks back...although I might keep the Eco Styler around since it was so cheap and I could possibly use it for other styling purposes.

You are too funny! I enjoy reading your posts.

I was just the opposite lol I didn't like Hicks because 1) That made my head sweat like somebody was chasing me. 2) I looked like a pimp named Slick back. I didn't too much care for Design Essentials either when I was natural. I'm in the 4 range as well.

So I've used the ORS edge control for a while now and I notice that it is doing nothing for my natural edges. I find it so hard to blend my edges when I wear protective styles. Do any of you have a favorite edge control that is able to handle and smoothe your coarse edges?

I used this for a while with Gorilla Snot but it started making me look like I had dandruff. It was good at first but I had to wash it out and start again the next day or it was look gross

I am looking at the Hicks ingredient list and don't see any wax. This can't be real right because I've been searching forever for a pomade that holds without wax. I co wash so waxes don't work for me. So it's true?

Still has water though which means possible reversion...

i still love Hick's.
Murray's edge wax is not bad either.
the key to most of them is tying it down with a scarf briefly to let it "set."

Luster’s Pink is does a really good job as far as hold. Now for light hold and shine I Love Motions. It has shimmer in it. I don’t mess with edge control stuff too much, since it just does a number on edges. That stuff pulls my hair out.
