When people say is that all of your hair? You say yes, but they just won't believe you until they touch it just one time. Lol

....when everyone who knows you.... knows that you wear a phony puff - to protect "All that hurr you got now!!!" :lachen::lachen:

When someone copys and pastes your hair pictures from facebook into an album on their page and label it "The person who inspired me to BC"

A friend from middle school surprised me the other day and copied my picutres into an album on her page (I have my journey in 2 photo albums on fb) and said that I inspired her to big chp. I was so flattered.

Great thread!

You know you're doing something right when your hair screw ups get you the most compliments from people because the results look better than most heads of hair IRL.

We've all gotten the "stare", but last week I was at the library and I caught this guy staring. No prob, I had my hair down and I'm used to it. However, I kept walking and he turned full circle to keep looking at my hair. The woman he was with was looking at me to!

The normal your hair must be fake stuff.

I've come a long way from the overprocessed, fried out, thin hair I had when I joined!

When you get more compliments after you BC then you ever have before on longer relaxed hair.

When you wear a big poofy braidout or fro and ppl stare at you when you pass them, smiling

When random ppl on the street stop to tell you they LOVE your hair

When you allow DH to play in your hair during coloring and he not once stops playing with your hair haha

When you first meet ppl and they burst out how much they love your hair

You know you're doing something right when you get weave-checked twice in the same day at the BSS where you work.

1st: My Korean boss.
MKB: How long did it take you to sew that in?
Me: It's not a sew-in. I just took out the twists I had yesterday.
MKB: What?! Noooo. I don't believe so. Come here.
Me: *approaches*
MKB: *scratches my scalp* What?!

2nd: Some girl wanted a curly 27-piece.
Girl: *points to mannequin* I like this. Is that what you have in your hair?
Me: No...
Girl: Oh, what kind of hair do you have in?
Me: This is mine...
Girl: Oh... *silence* You have anything similar?

:lachen:

I didn't know my half-assed twistout could cause so much confusion

You go for a rollerset at the salon and your stylist says to his assistant....make sure her hair is dry before you take out her rollers... her har is very long in the back. :) This just happened to me 2 weeks ago.

When you get weave checked - on a twistout.

When you're asked about the type of conditioner you use that makes your hair "look so soft".

When you're asked about the concoction in a generic jar that you're applying to your hair (which is really a shea butter mix).

When a man (not your SO) really wants to touch your hair.

When your mother shakes her head at your "short" twisted ringlets but then guffaws at a recent length-check picture of your straight tresses.

when you do a blow out after a few months of not using heat and are floored by your own progress. i unconsciously rub my hands through my hair giving myself a weave check.

When your mom and sister start getting mad that you PS in buns all the time, and want you to show of your hair every single day.

I have very soft, wavy hair (4a, 3c?). A woman I know (who was formerly a hairstylist) gets mad every time she sees me wearing a wig. She loves to see it straightened. I'm not about to stall any of my progress just so she can look at it. A couple of years ago my own mother asked me if my hair was real. Due to the fact that it's RELAXER FREE it doesn't have that reddish tint to it anymore. I can't even wear a #2 fake pony anymore. It reflects light better and and can look like synthetic doll hair when straight (thus my mother's inquiry, NO BRAG:lachen:). A bottle of relaxer could never do that. I see a lot of women on this site with hair that looks like this as well. It's common sense stuff. Everybody's hair doesn't thrive doing the same damaging stuff we've been doing to it for years. I wish I could get the look some of the women on this site have with relaxed hair. But like I said, everything ain't for everybody and when you find what works for you, you stick with it.

At the bolded - Girl, I couldn't agree with you more!! I love my mom and sis with all my heart, but when it comes to wearing my hair down, my skin crawls at the thought of the slow damage the friction is doing. I love their comments, calling my hair "fabulous" and "gorgeous" (I haven't gotten the "is that your hair" question like you, though, but I'm striving for it:grin:!!). but there's no way I'm gonna stop PSing just to please them. It's really my mom who has me cracking up all the time. When I first started all of this hair talk, so looked at me like I was crazy. Now she's quick to ask about my progress/regi. We gotta do what's best for us, chica. You with your natural swag, and me with my relaxed protective styling.

On another note: I HATE the reddish tint my relaxers give me, so every six months I dye it black with a semi-permanent dye. It's non-damaging and gives me jet black hair again. Fixed that problem right up :yep:.

I'm not lying when I say this: I LOVED getting a Midnight Blue rinse on my hair during my relaxed days. And those cellophane rinses made me NOT KNOW HOW TO ACT!:lachen:
