I just wanted to share a cute thing that happened to me this morning. I had to go off site to do a project for work this morning. After we were finished we packed up the materials and headed outside to load the things up in the project leader's van. It was raining a little outside, just misting. I'm just walking along carrying my load not thinking much of it. The one other AA person going to the van was walking on the sidewalk behind me. The other ladies were white. The AA said to me "Hurry up girl and get out of this rain. You know how we do". And quite frankly I was momentarily caught off guard. I'm on this board so much reading about people who wash their hair everyday, some say their hair stays wet, and I myself wash 2 -3 times a week. A little mist of rain doesn't bother me. So I just kinda laughed nervously and chose not to get into a discussion about black people and wet hair. She got an umbrella when she got to the van and the white ladies did not. I guess I just forgot for a minute "how we do" because I'm not around other black people when it's raining that much.
