at least I dont think so. I thought about this after reading uncertainties over whether lightly shampooing after protein treatments washes it out. /images/graemlins/drowning.gif
Heres my position:
I thought the purpose of using heat from either a dryer or plastic cap to with protein treatments was to open up the outer cuticle layer of the hair shaft to make it more receptive to treatments.
Even if you don’t use heat, deep penetrating treatments contain 'hydrolyzed' ingredients. /images/graemlins/bookworm.gif These ingredients are broken down into the small molecular weight & size that is required to penetrate past the outer cuticle layer of hair to reach the inner cuticle potion of the hairshaft where the ingredients can improve the hair's elasticity or ability to stretch without breaking. Normal daily conditioners & rinses simply coat the hair shaft or close down the outer cuticle scales to temporarily create shine, seal ends or hide frizzies.
Either way the treatment are penetrating the hair shaft!
All in all, IMHO lightly shampooing your hair after a protein treatment can’t wash out ingredients that have penetrated the hair shaft. Shampooing merely wash’s away sebum, dirt, etc. that COATS the hair shaft. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
These treatments do were off, thus the need for weekly deep conditioning.
