Babyface Collagen Hair Repair- Alternative to BKT???

^^^
Can you tell us the percentage of preservative in the product DMDM H

The DMDM Hydantoin percentages are low. Lower than even in everyday over the counter products. There are other preservatives in it that actually do most of the work. The DMDM H is not dangerous in this type of product anyway. It really only becomes harmful if heated to it's smoke point (like they do with the BKT's) which you do not do with this treatment. It is very safe.

Interesting theory on the ingredients, but not true.

After reading your posts, I thought it was time to give a little bit of an update on this product. Funny, as I'm reading the posts here, I actually do remember answering all of those questions :)

Here is the scoop on my protein treatment. The reason it was repackaged like that is because it was a very expensive professional use only treatment that salons charged up to $250 a pop for. I had to keep the brand name a secret because otherwise it would have caused trouble for the maker with the salons they sold to (who liked to charge so much for the treatments).

But that is all in the past, because now the product is getting a complete packaging make-over because BABYFACE Skin Care is the new owner of the product and formula, and will be offering it at a consumer level now, instead of professionals only - as it was before.

There is nothing "cheap" about this product, and it cannot be duplicated by any homemade products. This is professionally made by a cosmetic formulator, and the unique preparation in how it is "cooked" is where the real secret is. It is specially prepared so that it is able to penetrate the entire hair shaft, down to the cortex. It doesn't just coat the hair. It penetrates completely. It was originally created by 2 stylists (1 was African American, so, yes, it was designed for ALL hair types) who were tired of wasting money on big name products that were all hype, but that did not deliver. Together, with a scientist trained in hair care formulation, it took them five years to get this just perfect. It is no ordinary "protein treatment" and it's results will far exceed any traditional salon protein treatment.

...

Feel free to ask me any questions (if there are any left?) I am always honest with my answers. If I think something is good for you, I'll tell you, but if I don't think it's the right product for you, I'll be honest with that too. I won't tell you it is perfect for you if it's not, just to sell product. The whole point is for people to find products that work for them, and not waste money.

The question still left unanswered: what are the actual ingredients in your product. Please just spell it out. I refuse to buy a hair product without reading a full list of ingredients. If, like you said, the secret is in how the ingredients are "cooked" (your words) then there's no real danger that we're going to steal the formula. Frankly, I find it quite disingenuous.

It's also a tad unsincere that you've just joined this forum to just to sell your product. I stand firm: disclose the list of ingredients and let the intelligent ladies on this forum decide for themselves.

I'm interested in more info as well. I'm not sure if I would compare it to a BKT becuase in the Q & A section (sorry I forgot to quote it) they said it does not straighten the hair. Its just a protein treament.

Like you say--this has nothing to do with BKT. It's hydrolyzed protein (collagen) that you add to your conditioner for a protein treatment. Think aphogee two step.

I don't have a problem with her joining to answer questions. I think we've had other threads where people have done so (Sabino I think, and also one other for a product that temporarily straightened hair off the top of my head).

I don't know how I feel about the non disclosure. I understand it (thiefs...yeah we may not be able to "cook" it in a lab, but someone else may have that technology. Since when has mcdonald's given up it's special sauce recipe) and I know that others have guarded their products too...but I just don't know. I wish there was a way of knowing.:yep:

I came on to answer questions about the product. I'm not selling it. I didn't ask anyone to try it, I left no information on where you can buy it (but you already knew one of the places I sold it) and I didn't even disclose the new name the product will be marked with. I was simply trying to make the product a little more clear as to what it does and how it does it, and to ease the minds of anyone who thought I was mixing jello in my kitchen and selling it to people.

I thought the ingredients were already known? It's collagen, and then I answered someone's question about the preservatives. But to clarify that for those who want to know what is in the protein treatment, my labels read: Water, Hydrolized Collagen, Methylparaben, Propylparaben and DMDM Hydantoin.

Since some are interested in exact ingredients, let me leave you with this - an industry secret. The ingredients companies list on the labels of their products is only about 80% accurate. Protecting a formula is not anything new, everyone does it. They may leave out 1 certain key ingredient, or list other ingredients that are not actually in there. And yes, it's legal. So you'll never really know everything that is in the products you use -- well, unless you make them yourself.

bkt does NOT straighten hair either. it coats the hair and makes the straightening process easier and quicker.
