I just love how easy and safe it is to add a slight hue to your hair with this stuff. My hair is dark brown, but my ends are lightened and faded from previous coloring and sun, so I mainly was trying to add a "kick" to those.

I mixed equal parts of Mahogany and Black Cherry (warning, when you are applying this mix, you look like you are on the set of ER...dark scary red everywhere...). I followed the instructions as normal, except I let it stay on a few extra minutes while it was cooling from being under the dryer. After rinsing thoroughly, instead of immediately shampooing I worked a mixture of moisturizing conditioner plus olive oil into my hair and let it sit on there w/o heat for several minutes. A lot more of the dye is going to be drawn out by doing this, but it didn't affect my shade. I then shampooed w/ a detangling shampoo and conditioned as normal.

My hair is super soft, shiny, and my ends have a beautiful deep auburn hue that looks natural rather than gawdy. I'm so excited!

Just thought I'd share

Do you kow if this product will work on previously dyed black hair? I want a lighter hue but I have to stay away from permanent dyes.

Hmmm...colourshines is just a rinse/cellophane, so it will deposit a color, but not lighten the hair. So if you used those shades over dyed black, it would (in bright light) give it a reddish hue or glow. Its gentle because it only coats the hair, not really bleaching or anything.
