I have faithfully been doing oil rinses for the past month, just about every day or every other day.

This is the first time EVER that I have no shedding or breakage when I comb my hair in the shower.

I think the consistent use of the oil rinses has completely reversed any problems I have been having.

My new growth is soft enough to get me through my stretching period, and when I blow dry my hair, I don't necessarily have to straighten it anymore. I can get away with pulling it into a messy ponytail and just leaving a bang out in front.

Oil rinsing has made me realize the value of doing hot oil treatments. I would never do them because of the time I felt was involved. But now, I just pour the oil over my head in the shower, and rinse with hot water to dissolve the oil, then condition.

Love it.

:yay: Tell 'em girl, 'cause they don't hear me. :nono: The next person that starts a breakage thread and hasn't tried this, I'm driving over to their house and doing it myself.

It may not work for everybody, but when it does it's a Godsend and I mean that with all due reverence. I feel like God sent it!

healthynhappy, if you haven't combined it with the DC dry hair w/ heat thing, start today. :yep: You'll be amazed.

I most certainly will!

This is a bit long so bear with me.

Yes a big thank you to Sareca. I started doing the deep conditioning on dry hair and oil rinses a couple weeks ago, but on my last wash which was Monday night. I left out the oil rinse plus I used Neutrogena Triple Moisture (NTM)for my deep conditioning.
Let me tell you what a big mistake, first of all I did not add oil to my conditioner because I wanted to test the true effects of NTM, well my hair was not soft when I finished DC did not like how it felt at all, even my shampoo Beauty Without Cruelty Moisture Plus made my hair softer than NTM. Next I opted to leave out the oil rinse before I conditioned with NTM again. My hair was tangled, it was not silky at all, even after putting in Giovanni's Direct Leave in and some coconut oil my hair was just a mess. I felt like I just ruined my hair and there was hair breakage more than ever.

I was so frustrated I decided to just leave my hair and not try to roller set it. Therefore I went to school with a bland pull back hairdo feeling wiry, instead of my soft curly hairdo.
This was all on Monday night. The first thing I did when I came home on Tuesday after( cooking fish and chips and making a cole slaw and sipping on some Alize to get over my mini hair disaster ) I DC again this time with Aubreys Organice Honey Suckle Rose Moisturizing conditioner and again I did not add oil to see the true effects , and sat under my heat cap for about an hour till I felt no more heat.
Oh words cannot decribe the joy I felt when I ran my fingers through my hair before I shampooed it and felt how soft it was. Next after shampooing I applied some coconut oil and Aubreys conditioner again and it felt even more soft and silky. I was so elated I felt like myself again. I then did the usual, leave in and roller set overnight.
By the way I saw only three or four strands of hair throughout the whole process, a big difference from the night before.

So a Special thanks to Sareca for such wonderful tips and the LHCfers who recommend Aubreys all the time it truly is a very good moisturizing conditioner that can be used for both deep and quick conditioning. This is now my staple moisturizing conditioner which has a coconut fatty acid base which as we all know fatty acids is very good for our hair and coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft better than any other oil.

I did the DC on dry hair w. some oil on Saturday and sat under the dryer for like 45 minutes and then bummed about the house for like 15-20 will my SO took a shower before I rinse it out that man jumped in the shower. He used all the hot water and left me with some cool/cold water. So what did I do rinsed for a while and then when it got to cold. I hopped out of the shower, filled up a bucket with water and dipped my hair in it. Wowwwwwwwww it was cold but my hair felt like when I finished:bighug:I just want to :kissing4: my hair.

LMAO@ how you got over you mini hair disaster...now that is a plan. I'm glad you came through your hair disaster OKAY!!!

Im a busy girl, and big on multi-tasking, so I think Im gonna do the DC on dry hair while at the gym and go in the sauna (hot hot hot!) for 20 to 30 minutes after my workout, then go home and wash/condition. I live right down the street so its no biggy. Ill just put my plastic cap on and a scarf in the sauna, and take it off afterwards will I get home (dont want to look like Aunt Jemima!):yep:
Ill be doing something good for my body and my hair!
