I've been doing some experimentin' tryin' to find a substitute for the Curly Pudding. I decided to try some thick curl activator gel on my hair, right out of the shower - a used about two gobs worth of African Gold Curl Activator Gel for Extra Dry Hair ($2!). My hair dried with nice curl definition, same amount of shrinkage as the Curly Pudding, shine, and softness. My curls feel so nice - not greasy, sticky, crispy - firmly set - but moisturized and perfect. Perhaps it's worth a try.
