Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

This spring marks one whole year of coming to hair boards and I must say that LHCF has created a hair monster in me.... But I'm loving it!
smile.gif

Okay here are a few ways in which I have turned into a monster since coming to LHCF:

1--The other day I went to get my hair done at the Dominican salon, like I usually do. Well after mami took out my rollers and was getting ready to blow my roots, homegirl proceeds to use a small tooth comb to comb my hair up --- Chile, I nearly flipped out...I was like "could you please not use that little a$$ comb in my hair while it is dry!"

I'm about to start bringing my own combs. She looked at me like I was...
como se dice? LOCA

heehee

But my babies are thanking me b/c they are still right where they should be-- on my head and not on the salon floor

2--Oh yeah I started to refer to my strands as "my babies"

3-- The same said stylist wanted to use a flat iron on my hair after she had already blown out my roller set with that hot blow dryer- I was like "naw that's alright, just wrap it up, it'll be fine" once again they thought I was crazy for KNOWING what my hair can and cannot handle
smirk.gif

4--The other I was driving in my car with my moms and it was blazing hot outside (and being the broke recent college graduate that I am, my car has no AC- that's a luxury in my world), anyways, the windows were down and my hair kept blowing in my eye, so I asked my mom to grab a few bobby pins out of my purse so I can put it up. She then proceeds to pin my hair up for me. But she was tearing the ish out of it and I could hear my little babies snapping cuz she was being mad rough
mad.gif
--- now as much as I love my mommy, I flipped out on her (you dang right I did!) and I told her thanx but no thanx I could handle it myself.

4--Two words- product junkie (period).

These are all examples of things that would have never bothered me about a year and 1/2 ago..
ohwell.gif
Ah well I guess I'm a bonafide hair monster, but I know my babies are thanking me

Please share ways in which you have become a hair monster since joining LHCF

I am obsessed with keeping my hair "protected". Products, styling tools, satin scarves, bonnets, etc. I never lean back on chairs unless my hair is covered. My male friend thinks I'm being silly. One day he jumped on me and rubbed my hair against the back of his sofa.

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

I too have become very protective of my 'babies".
laugh.gif
I don't lean back on any headrests -buses, planes, movie theaters, etc. (what did you do Sassygirl when your bf did that?
bigshock.gif
)and I carry satin or my new silk scarves with me in my purse in case I need them - for the wind or to cover something. I never forget to moisturize my hair in the morning and evening and I almost always wash my hair every 3 days. I never, ever thought like this before LHCF!

You flipped on your mums

Sassygirl you know he just wanted to jump on you! Using the hair as an excuse

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

Oh I cannot stand anyone playing in my hair- before LHCF I was flattered now I don't want their grimey hands on my hair.

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

Uh no one touches my babies... I mean my hair....no one.

I've only been on LHCF for 2 months but my hair has improved so much that I refuse to let anyone do anything to it.

Maybe in a year I will be ready..but for now...uh uh.

You can add that one to my list too... The other day I was taking a bus from Philly to NYC and I wanted to watch the movie that was playing overhead, but I refused to lean my head back on the headrest... Needless to say I wound up with a stiff neck

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

Yeah Bimbabe. That's another thing. I don't like nasty hands in my clean hair. I make sure my own hands are clean before styling or moisturizing it.

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

Oh I'm one also. And I have those around me (mom,b/f) very well trained also. My b/f does the laundry and makes sure to put all my head scarves and bonnets right on top so I won't have to search for them. He also totally indulges the PJ in me, surprising me with a few of my favorite products ever so often. My mom puts a silk scarf on the pillow when I'm going to sleep over.

Also, I am actually taking my comb for the relaxer application cuz the last time she used a broken plastic comb that I know pulled out my hair. If they have a problem with that -- oh well!

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

Another thing that irks me is when someone detangles my hair starting from the roots down instead of starting from the ends and working their way up...ooo that makes me hot
mad.gif
Shoot, at this rate I will never be able to get my hair done at salons anymore- I've got waaay too many hair standards

I tried to play it off like it wasn't a big deal. He makes fun of my hair weirdness and the last thing he needs is more ammunition.

But when he wasn't looking I inspected the sofa for broken hairs! I like the idea of carrying scarves in my purse for emergency situations.

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

I practically hyperventilate if my hair touches a non-"silky" fabric
laugh.gif
.

I "have to have" essential oils, a hair butter, Aubrey GPB, and Kera Care Humecto in my home at all times!

Combs that don't have widely-spaced teeth look like weapons now.

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

Only my hubby can touch and pull my hair
grin.gif
....lol.I know I know..But he got the privilege to do that..Otherwise what am I keeping my hair beautiful and healthy for??
shocked.gif
If I cover it all the time where r the benefit of taking care of it??????

Re: Ya\'ll have created a monster!!!!!!!

I've only been reading the board for about three weeks and registed for one week, and I can already see myself turning into a basket case. I travel a lot for my job and I will be traveling to NY next week. I have already gone out and purchased additional silk scarves and a silk pillow case to use at the hotel. These items will become a part of my frequent flyer must haves. Thanks to you guys, my hair will not touch regular sheets & pillow cases again.

I'm obsessed with not leaning back on cotton head rests in the movies, trains, chairs too! I also have a habit of leaning my head foward so my nape doesn't touch my shirt.

Girl, these hairdressers must be smoking crack, ya know?!
laugh.gif
Yesterday I went to my braid place to put my braids back in. Like many of us here, my hair is very thick. My usual braider wasn't there. Don't you know the braider picked up this tiny rat tail comb and approached my head? I was like, I don't know what she's doing with that, but it's not combing this head! Not only did I have my own wide tooth comb with me but my own moisturizer and NTM leave in conditioner, and every now and then I stopped her to comb it through and apply my products.

We HAVE to be extra protective of our hair, cuz if we aren't who will? Not these crazy hairdressers, that's for sure!
