Wrapping Hair after Roller Setting?

Hey ladies! In trying to limit my use of heat, I find myself roller setting my hair under the dryer more often. Only problem is that I do like to wear my hair straight every now and again, and I'm trying to avoid the curling iron and flat iron and all that. I don't dare try to wrap my hair wet right after washing...hot mess is about the only way I can describe the results /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif My question is, after you rollerset your hair, how do you wrap it so that it straightens out? When I try, it just gets poofy and the ends look frizzy. Maybe it's just the way I wrap my hair, because even if I wrap it after flat ironing it, only one side of it has a bend at the ends. I know there's a thread somewhere on this, but I can't find it. So any advice or a bump on wrapping after rollersetting or wrapping in general would be very much appreciated! Thanks bunches!

Hugs,

I just make a side part and wrap it from ear to ear. I've found that since I started using a paddle brush (jilbere), my wraps have come out smoother, I guess because the brush laid my hair down better. I also cover my hair w/ my satin wrap-cap and sit back under the dryer. I do the same even if I dont rollerset before hand -- minus the wrap-cap.

You might also want to try putting 2 or 3 big magnetic rollers in the crown of your hair and wrapping around it. That tends to give me a little 'bounce' when I do flat wraps. HTH

Well, once you are done with your rollerset, your hair should be smooth. THis is my technique:

1. Take down rollers--hair must be dry not damp
2. Smooth some essential oils all throughout
3. Brus hair with paddle brush into mushroom (hanging in front, handing sides and back)
4. With paddle brush wrap in circular fashion
5. add more oil and smooth with boar bristle brush
6. wrap with satin scarf

the few times when I first started to rollerset it was frizzy if I did not condition well or I did not coat my hair sufficiently before I added the rollers.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help ladies...I'm assuming you mean a natural bristle paddle brush? I'm going to give it a try later on today and see how it goes! Thanks for the help, and I'll let you know how it turns out :-)

No, I use one with nylon bristles.
