Would You Ever Shave Your Head....

I would do it for any of my children. And when I had a cancer scare a few months ago and thought I would have to start chemo I was ready to just shave it off rather than watch it fall out in clumps. I figured it would be so emotionally taxing to watch it fall out on its own.

My head is large and in charge...
But yes I would if my sister, mother, child or bff had cancer... and I would still give money and donate my time.

I'm still in the school of "its just hair".

I would do it for a very close friend IF she was gonna get my hair made into a wig...:look: LOL If not, I don't see a purpose at the moment. Like the others I would donate money. :yep:

I agree with faithVA, if I had a child with cancer, I would do it - I wouldn't otherwise.

I would be sensitive around any friends/family of mine that's going though hair loss (for any reason, especially cancer). I would wear hats, scarves, keep my hair tucked away and not wear it out, flaunt it, complain about it, etc around her.

Just had this discussion at school last week with black teacher pal since some of white staff members had done it for Locks of Love ( hair donations for cancer victims). We both decided NO. Reasons: (1) Sadly, going by what we see on the streets & on our students' mothers' heads, many of today's cancer victims just might prefer someone get them a good lacefront wig instead of donated kinky hair;(2) We've never heard of any blacks donating hair or anyone asking for it like they do for bone marrow & blood donors plus they would need good healthy hair that hasn't been abused by perms,heat,etc;(3) we both regularly donate to Cancer society anyway because we've both lost family members & friends to cancer. (4) Money for RESEARCH RESEARCH & MORE RESEARCH is the best way to defeat cancer.

No honey no Im not shaving my hair for anyone I will donate/raise money instead

are they gonna sell my hair to benefit cancer research?

if not no!!! why?

ok if you pay me for my time conditioners, relaxers, etc... then I'll do it

Locks of Love is an organization that uses the donated hair to make wigs for cancer patients. Some folks also shave their heads when a pal or relative loses their hair to chemo. I would not do either. Helping them buy a good wig or buying one for them is much better.Hurting myself is not going to help them at all. Plus, as I said in another post, many black women might not want donated kinky hair wigs. Sad to say that but it's probably true.

RESEARCH IS THE WAY TO HELP CANCER PATIENTS, FOLKS. My dad died from colon & lung cancer in October 1986 after a 5 1/2 year battle. Cigarette smoker. They didn't have colonoscopy back then. CANCER RESEARCH , NOT HEAD SHAVING helped develop that test ( & better diagnostics for lung cancer) which my bro & I plus other family members have gotten. I would not have shaved my head for dad unless it would've cured his cancer.
