Would you ever date a family member of your best friend?

I've been in this type of a situation before, but I wonder how it can appear to be for the person who is the mutual friend (i.e., my best friend, but also my boyfriend's cousin/brother/whatever).

In short, what are your thoughts/experiences?

I have a crush on my best friends uncle, and my other best friends cousin is in love with me, but I would never go there..too much drama!

In both cases, my friends think that it is cute and/or funny, but I can tell in their voices that there is an unwritten rule to keep it friendly, and keep it moving. I agree. If things were to go sour if romantic things were pursued, that would be a weird situation to be in. Can't exactly bad mouth your friends family.

I dont think I could...if the r/ship were to breakdown ( esp if it ended in a nasty way)..i believe it could make things a tad uncomfortable for me and my friend/family etc....but who knows, it could work..but Im a Pessimist!

I have. It was peaceful. When we broke up, I kept my friend out of it as much as possible. He and I still communicate.
