To cancer patients or other people suffering from a misfortune?
I am particularly interested in folks with 'type 4' hair textures, cnapps, kinks etc. While you see organizations like 'locks of luv' gaining support, I'm not aware of any other organization supporting folks of color and patients/victims who want their kinks back?

Thoughts?

No. If my hair grew to my butt in two years of cutting it I might but I've been fighting to grow my hair for years and sorry I ain't letting it go.

No, I wouldn't donate my hair.

If there was an organization dedicated to POC suffering from cancer, etc, I would support them, but sorry, I'm selfish with my hair.

Well, To be able to grow hair is a blessing that i will never take for granted, but I've never had long hair to have, enjoy, be sick of, or give away

I first want to make it to BSL or alittle shorter and be able to keep it there for a while (you know retain it/no breakage)

If i could grow a signifagant amount after that, like 6-7 more inches to butt/waist or whever it goes, i would love to give it away.

If anything in my life, i would love to just be APL (all healthy, natural, blunt, for along period of time, like my consistant length), i would give away length after that.

But it would be hard for me to keep my hair at shoulderlength or shorter to give hair away to organizations because i havent been longer than that since i was a child.

i have no problem donating my hair. i just wouldn't donate to Locks of Love. especially if there were an organization dedicated to making wigs for women of color... some of those women don't want fake "wiggy" looking hair. they would want something closer to their own type/texture, something realistic. i would grow my hair out and cut it off every few years to help women like that.

not to say anyone here that doesn't want to cut and donate their hair are bad or wrong. i know plenty of white girls who can grow long locks easily and still don't wanna cut and donate their hair. it's a personal choice.

If I had enough to donate, I would.

Isn't there usually a length requirement? If so, then I'm not sure that I meet that requirement. But I would if I could.

My dear bestest fried was diagnosed with breast cancer in June. SHe has just finished all of her chemo and is starting on radiation therapy.

She is as bald as an eagle and would kill for any hair. Messed up damaged, etc. She just wants some hair. A TWA would be nice. Don't get me wrong, she rocks her dome, but you know how it is.

If I could, I'd shave myself bald/clean for her.

So yeah, I would donate.

Besides, I have been wanting to cut my hair and dh won't let me.

Yeah but you realize that the hair is processed that is the reason why the ideal donor is virgin hair that is free of chemicals (color, relaxer, perm). They can change the color of the hair, change the texture, and put it rigerous cleaning processes. Alot of hair that is donated to companies that sell hair ususally come from europe or asia and on average a majority of the hair is dark. So what they can do is process it to get the hair to hair color/texture combination imagineable.

If you get good quality human hair you can make it look like AA like with some of the wigs I have worn they don't look wiggy at all. Who do you think is donating the "yaki" hair that many black women sport as really good weaves?

Personally I wouldn't simply b/c my hair grows slow and then I plan on having a relaxer which would basically render my hair useless.

No, because most of the hair donated doesn't get used anyway. They will not use hair that has been processed or dyed of any type. And basically if you used heat they won't use it either.

It's better to just write out a check for cancer research.

Nope I would not donate...why? they can buy a natural hair wig so what is the point in my chopping my hair off for them to turn it into a wig they could easily buy?...My young sis was diagnosed with cancer last year and pretty much lost all her hair...I got her on nourshair and BT and she had gripable hair in no time to do a pick drop which I advised against many times(she didnt listen...the girl wanted hair:yep:... I was afraid her scalp might still be too sensitive....)...anyway donating hair doesnt make sense to me....there are plainty of wigs available. If my young sis can find one and chop it up to her liking then I am sorry even with the confidence shutting issues they can just go ahead and buy one. Everyone is different some dont feel the need to wear any but when my sis bought one it did bring a little smile to see herself with hair even though she paid money for it....

Basically you're wasting your time if you don't have virgin hair to give away. Plust it takes about 10-12 bundles of hair to make one wig. Like you have stated there are quality control process that the hair must go through some make it and some don't. But most people don't know this and might be cutting off all their hair for nothing but I guess its the thought that counts. . :look:
