Would you buy a house with a boyfriend, not even a fiancé?

I'm not speaking for older women, so much but if you had a daughter just finishing grad school with a college sweetheart and they said they were buying a house together.... No mention of engagement.....

Thoughts?

Oh, no. :perplexed Too much potential drama.
Absolutely. A co-worker did this, and when they broke up, it was a disaster. She wanted to sell and completely separate herself from him. He wanted to keep the place and didn't have the ability to buy her out. She was miserable for a really long time.

No mention of engagement, you must be cray! Doesn't make sense to commit to such a huge investment before an official commitment to each other.

Wasn't there a thread jus like this recently?? Maybe it was in another thread but to answer the question NOPE.

This scenario is probably all too common. And a worse scenario, is he just walks away and doesn't pay the mortgage but his name is still on the deed. Now she's paying the mortgage, she can't sell it without him and she's stuck. Very bad idea.

If they break up, couldn't they both leave and sell the house? Yes they could, but what if one of the 2 doesn't want to?

My cousin did this. I didn't really know what to say and I am not tight with her. For some reason everyone else in the fam acted like this was a good idea. People think her marriage is sure to come, but unless you have a ring nothing is sure. This is in the UK so I figured maybe it was some cultural accepted thing that I didn't know about. Wouldn't be me.

One of my friends is trying to do this but no way would I do it.:nono: She and her SO have been talking about marriage though. Her idea is to find a house (her SO is the one paying for it), then get the ring.:perplexed Her life, her choice but it wouldn't be me. I'm wouldn't even think to start looking at a house until I have an engagement ring on my finger and a wedding date set.:look::yep:

She says she has FAITH in him.

FAITH? :look:

The answer is still...
