Do any of you who henna your hair ALSO RELAX YOUR HAIR? I have asked this on several sites and NO ONE BOTHERS TO ANSWER... I am really disappointed. I know that some of the ladies use hennalucent, but I want to know about those who use HENNA. I have read that you can't do this....that you need to do a hair strand test...that your hair might go up in smoke....has anyone tried this without destroying their hair???? I would love to hear from YOU...BONJOUR.

I posted a while back about me using HENNALUCENT on my RELAXED hair. I thought HENNA couldn't be used on RELAXED hair. If so, maybe this is why you haven't gotten any replies. HTH!

Re: Would love some straight answers henna ladies!

I have relaxed hair and I henna and I love it. But not all hennas are created equal. I've never used Hennalucent so I can't say anything either way. The henna I use is by Lush (www.lush.com) they originated in Canada and are slowly opening stores here in the United States. I have tried other henna's and didn't like them (can't remember why). I only henna during the week after my touch-up. The reason is that the henna can impede the relaxing and/or perming process. And follow up with a moisturizing treatment (my favorite is Humectress by Nexxus). The color is more natural looking and my hair feels and looks healthier. The only down side is it's extremely messy.

I am relaxed and use henna every month. I love the color, my hair is shinier ands seems a bit more elastic after the henna treatment. I did do a strand test the first time I used it but not since.
In my country people traditionnally use henna so I don't have to order it.

Re: Would love some straight answers henna ladies!

Thank you for the answers. As you know I am into natural hair...and have never tired this...I do not believe everything that the cosmetology schools tell you...some of that info is so dated. But anyway, my hair is natural and hennaed regularly. I get mine from everydaymendi. and it is supposed to be 100 % natural, I believe she is honest about her product. Anyway, I was having thoughts about relaxing my hair slightly so that I do not have so much shrinkage, and was deathly afraid that because the hairshaft has had many many hennas, that I had closed the door to relaxing forever. So could you tell me your routine of how you do this? Had you started hennaing before you relaxed your hair? because that is where I am at. I believe that you can do a henna after but I did not know you could do a relaxer after. Please tell me what your total experiences were and are, I would be so grateful. My hair is 3b, super curly and wavy and fine cottony with 75 % shrinkage. It is really a handful with the shrinkage. If I comb it the curls and waves disappear and I end up with a head full of hair with no shape at all and I do not want to cut it. Looking for some options.

Re: Would love some straight answers henna ladies!

I've been relaxing since I was 12 and discovered hennas afterwards. So I can't really answer your question about relaxing on henna'd hair. You might want to wait a month or two to allow the henna to fade? before relaxing. Or try calling the manufacturers of the henna you use and/or the manufacturer of the relaxer you are planning to use.

I am a 3c(?), my natural hair is s-shaped waves and a little on the fine side. I use Bantu regular and my hairdresser gets the relaxer on and off my head in around 10 minutes.

On second thought, try a test section with the relaxer and see how it reacts.

Good luck!
