Test Strand for Henna

Hey ladies! I am doing my first henna this weekend and I know that we are supposed to do a test strand. However, how do I go about this and when will I know what the affect is so I can know whether or not I can use henna on my hair?

Hey ladies! I am doing my first henna this weekend and I know that we are supposed to do a test strand. However, how do I go about this and when will I know what the affect is so I can know whether or not I can use henna on my hair?

I did it by gathering hair that had shed. I get more while my hair is wet so I was able to get enough on one shampoo day. I tied a section close to one end into a knot to hold all the strands together and did a test on the loose hair.

Also, I let it stay on for an hour.

I did not do it with straight henna. I took a 1/2 teaspoon of henna and a teaspoon of cassia to test with.

Thanks! I didnt know how long I would have to let the test strand sit before I knew whether or not I could use the henna.
