Will this ruin my hair?

I love airdrying, it is so low-maintenance. BUT, I washed 30 hours ago and my hair is still damp. This wouldnt bother me so much if it didnt ALREADY drop down into the 40s and 30s in the evenings/mornings.

If I was to purchase a hooded dryer and use it twice a week, would my hair get damaged?

The soft dryer is pretty good and convenient - I forget the name of the brand I use. It is cheap and so much better than the hard dryer because you are not limited to staying one place. I am also sure it is not damaging to the hair because it is not direct heat. I use it 2X per week with no problem.

Is soft bonnet the name or are you just talking about the soft bonnet ones? I've had the same lazy daisey soft bonnet since 1995. It's still kickin, but it is hard/impossibe to fit rollers underneath. Do the bonnets themselves come bigger?

ETA: oops, "I caint rid 2 gewd". lol

I don't think once a week would hurt your hair at all, since the heat from a hooded hair dryer is evenly distributed and not direct like a blow-fryer. Maybe you can dry your hair under the hooded dryer under a low setting, for a half hour each time you wash your hair, just to speed up the airdrying process, if you're still not too sure.

That's a good idea. Thanks!

Also if you use henna in your hair it actually helps your hair dry a lot faster. My hair used take forever to airdry. After just 2 henna treatments (one cassia and one henna) I notice the difference in drying time. It seems to make hair less porous. Just a side note. :)

I henna, but I guess not often enough. :ohwell:

So you don't notice a difference yet? Maybe if you increased the amount you use or the amount of time you leave it on for that would help. The first time I used 4 oz, 113 grams on my BSL hair. Last time I used half that amount. I also leave mine on for about an hour too. I don't even towel dry because I don't want to disturb my hair cuticle and it still dries fast. Also silicone based products also help to seal the cuticle and allow it to dry faster.

In terms of hair dryers the ionic ones are supposed to cut drying time in half. I have the Sally's Ionic Hard Hat dryer and that works well. Okay, I'm babbling now... :phone:

Ditto! :yep:

My hair dries a whooooooole lot faster since I started using henna. :D Maybe, after using it more, your hair will, too, goldensensation.

I dont think heat is a bad thing (dont kill me) after all our hair is meant to be dry but what i think damages hair is when its overdried by heat. think of a flower in the sun its fine but if it gets too hot thats when it starts to dry out and die.
sorry OT i know

Do not get that dryer! It is my second and both my sisters second. The reason is the part that attaches hood part to the long silver base thingy is plastic and cracks! And mine now has duck tape and I will never get another on. It is cheaply made! In fact, the grey rollers do not even fit, my neck hurts so bad after being under that thing for 30 min. It is pathetic. I think for the price i paid was like $149 incl shipping is too much for that junk. Mine is made by babyliss and is ionic.

I don't think your hair would get damaged under the dryer. I use mine but usually only every two weeks and I haven't seen damage. I refuse to walk around in the cold with a wet head. For extra protection you could use a heat protectant.
