Fearfully Wonderfully Made
When I first went natural and did the big chop, I couldn't WAIT to have big hair! :cloud9:

This morning, I did a braidout and fluffed it out with my fingers and it was just too big! It was like I loved it and hated it at the same time...a very weird feeling. I loved it for the fact that it was big and unique, but I hated that it was before work and I was looking to sport a more conservative look so-to-speak. It was like my hair was overpowering my whole look. :afro:

So I tried putting it in a bun on top of my head...didn't like that. The top was too puffy...

I tried pulling it half up and half down with a bang, but didn't like that either. The back of my hair looked weird and not uniform.

So now I got it in this high puff... still don't like it but it's keeping my hair out of my face and I didn't have much more time to be fooling with my hair before coming to work...

And I have this itch to want to take it down and wear my hair out all in it's glory. :gorgeous:

Has anyone else had issues with how to wear their hair in the morning when the style doesn't come out quite how you like it or want it to be?

:yep: Happens to me all the time. Although I am relaxed, I just put it in a bun and keep it moving. I am style challenged, but I'm slowly improving. I have big hair this morning from a pincurl... curls have started to drop now but I decided to wear it this way today.

I've been wearing buns for 2 years, its getting old.

Dont feel bad, you get to have big hair on the weekend. Hopefully some other naturals will chime in on how you can better style tiwstouts for work.

Yes, all the time. With me, usually the hair isn't big enough or defined enough or not big and defined enough. Most of my updos are a result of a twistout or braidout misfire.:perplexed

You are not alone. I have been experiencing this very issue more now that my hair is longer. It totally destroys my mood in the morning before work, and then I have to look at it all crazy for the rest of the day.

The only thing that keeps me from going back to a relaxer or chopping it all off again is my loving fiance and crazy kids reminding me that it took SOOOO much work to get to where I am now and it will take a few more years of work to get to where I want to be (able to pull my hair into a ponytail without it being a puff).

I am sure that the more bad hair days you have, the better you will get at turning it into something great. Don't let your hair win. For now, you are still bigger than her.

I definitely feel you. My morning hair anxiety is so bad that I just keep my hair in twist until the weekend because I know I would be late for work trying to make my hair do something. My twists aren't any better but at least when I go to sleep at night I know what I am waking up to.

I keep hoping that with length, even on the bad hair days I can pull it into something presentable. But right now length seems to be evading me. I am having some better hair days which I catch on camera because they are not very often

Perhaps we all need to master at least 1 style (products and technique), that we can use no matter what.

Hang in their Poohbear.

I too believe it was a bad hair day. I've had loads and I too am very style challenged. I wish my hair was thicker and would be more defined with twist outs, but it's not. I just realised that twist outs are not for me while my hair is at the length it it. I keep my hair in one style for the week and then wash and do another style for the next. Just keep it simple. Maybe have a go to style that you know you feel comfortable when your having a bad hair day. Mines is usually a bun.

Yes I used to always have days like this. So I just wear my hair in a style that will allow me to just spray and go. style of choice is extension twists and it has been working for me. I don't have anytime to do my hair in the morning. Until I get to probably BSL its gonna be a struggle to find a style that I can do on short notice.

Yes. That's why I rock a bun on regular basis. I do not even mess with her on a work day. She and I will fight. She gets mad. Then she cussed me out and I suffer a knock out blow. LOL

SHE DOES NOT PLAY. so I let her have her way. I fight on weekends or special occasions when she MIGHT let me win. If not, at least I have time to fool around and make her submit.

This happens to me alot I end up bunning or wiggin it which im trying to stop because I like wearing my real hair but its so easy

I think everyone, natural or relaxed, has bad hair days. I find that my braid outs are too tight for the first few days if done on wet hair. If done on damp hair the curls drop faster and I can get the look I want. My bad hair day style is a bun or a wig.

I've learned not to fight with my hair...she gon do what she wannna do anyway! Hence the reason i've been wearing a ponytail for most of this year. A ponytail is a style we both agree on.

I want pitchas!

Poohbear, Ditto, I can so relate.:yep: I just wasn't loving my braid-out this morning...definition was good but it looked kinda shrunken and just not pleasing to my eye so I tried pulling back in a banana clip pony tail which is normally my go to style when all else fails but my ends looked straggly so nope nix that idea then tried a couple of updo looks and finally settled on a tuck and roll updo using side combs to hold the hair in place. I thought not bad but don't like how the front looked so next decision was if I should leave bangs out or tuck em in. Fussed with that for a bit, then did a couple of twists and pinned those back. Me likey, professional, protective style and it suited my outfit Whew all that and I had to get my dd ready for school:lol:. Didn't think nothing of doing all that work with my hair until I saw your post and realized...man oh man, styling natural hair can be so hit and miss in the mornings.
